The first classics show of the year is here. Retro Málaga 2024 starts tomorrow to celebrate what will be its eleventh edition. It will take place in the pavilions 1 and 2 of the Málaga Fair and Congress Palace (FYCMA), as always. In total, there will be 11.000 m² of exhibition space and more than 6.000 m² of covered parking. In regards to the schedules, this Friday it will open its doors from 16:00 p.m. to 20:00 p.m. On Saturday the 27th, the hours will be from 10:00 a.m. to 21:00 p.m., while on Sunday the 28th the hall will remain open from 10:00 a.m. to 19:00 p.m.
Some of the most interesting exhibitions will be the dedicated to celebrating the 40th anniversary of Seat Ibiza, the best-selling model in the history of the Spanish brand throughout its different generations. Thanks to the collaboration of the Classic Renault Club of Andalusia, there will be a stand with three units of the Spanish model. They will be a Street version from 1988, a 1.2 Crono with a three-door body from 1989 and a Friend from 1993.
El Automobile and Fashion Museum of Malaga will once again have a notable prominence, with the presence of models as striking as the Jaguar XK120 Coupe or the Cadillac Eldorado. They will share prominence with the aerodynamic Tatra T87 created by Hans Ledwinka, of which only 3 thousand units were manufactured. Porsche will have good representation courtesy of the private collection of Aurelio Villanueva. There will be no less than a dozen representatives of the history of the Stuttgart brand. I RETRO MÁLAGA ELEGANCE CONTEST
One of the main novelties of the 2024 edition will be the celebration, for the first time, of an elegance competition. will allow the participation of vehicles manufactured between 1900 and 1993. Three categories will be established depending on the manufacturing period, starting with the Prewar (1900-1940), category in which the following cars will participate: Packard 1604 Super Eight from 1938, Pierce Arrow 143 from 1930, Daimler-Benz Targa Florio from 1919 (recreation), Fiat 514 from 1930 and Buick Eight Series 60 from 1939.
In the Postwar category, reserved for cars manufactured between 1941 and 1970, these models compete: Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith from 1949, Mercedes-Benz 220 B from 1960, MG TD from 1952, Volkswagen Beetle 1200 from 1956 and Austin-Healey 3000 from 1965.
Finally, there will be a category reserved for Classics (1971-1993). Five other units participate here: Porsche 911 SC “Turbo Look” from 1981, Porsche 930 Turbo S Flatnose from 1984, Mercedes-Benz W107 500SL from 1985, SEAT 124 Sport 1800 from 1974 and Daimler DS 420 from 1971.
Un specialized jury will be in charge of evaluating the different participants, taking into account aspects such as the condition of the exterior or interior, the cleanliness of the engine or the sound, among others. He ruling will be known on Friday at 18:30 p.m., proclaiming three winners for each category.
CLASSIC PARKING IN RETRO MÁLAGA 2024
Classic fans have the opportunity to go with your classic vehicle of more than 30 years. To do this, Eventos Motor has reserved an area of the interior parking lot of the pavilion itself for them. In addition, once it is completed, you can continue parking outside.
To enter, You have to buy the “Classic +30” ticket, both online and at the hall box office. It is advisable to purchase it on the web to avoid uncomfortable waits. The entrance fee is 7 euros per person up to a maximum of two per car. The rest of the occupants of the classic would have to pay the normal ticket price.
El Access to the classic car park is through the Hipercor roundabout or through the side entrance. You just have to show the staff your printed or mobile ticket, in addition to your vehicle documentation. If you have everything prepared, you will avoid queues forming. In any case, The organization will facilitate access from 9:00 a.m., one hour before the opening of the room, so that attendees can enter without traffic jams.
