What will we see in ClassicAuto?

NEWS PREPARED THROUGH PRESS RELEASES

Classic Auto Madrid 2014, which will be held in the glass pavilion of the Casa de Campo fairgrounds from February 21 to 23, will recreate the history of the automotive industry more than ever with a leading role for national production. The "Made in Spain" stamp will appear on several of the main proposals that will be found in the fifth edition of the Madrid classic car show.

The Renault 4L, manufactured entirely in the Valladolid factory, celebrates the 50th anniversary of the start of its commercialization in our country. Its innovative tailgate dazzled an audience looking for a versatile vehicle and its success was such that, in less than a year, this model represented a third of the production of the Pucelana factory.

This popular model will be accompanied by another genuinely national product: the Renault 7, a car that was manufactured exclusively in the Spanish subsidiary of the French firm because it met the space and economy needs of the middle-class families of the time. The R7 is now 40 years old and Renault Classic Spain celebrates both anniversaries with a retrospective exhibition.

Half a century also celebrates the Simca 1000 this year, that Barreiros manufactured in Spain. We will have several units on display, one of them very exclusive, a convertible version. Today this unit is an outstanding piece of the Barreiros Foundation collection and in the XNUMXs it was used to transport personalities visiting the facilities through the Villaverde factory.

The youngest to celebrate his anniversary in this edition of ClassicAuto is already a classic. The Seat Ibiza turns 30 years old and is the car of the best-selling firm in history, with nothing more and nothing less than five million units. At the commemorative exhibition we will be able to see the first copy of the saga, the 1.5 Ibiza 1984 GLX with frame number 1, which was also the first product developed entirely with Seat as an independent company. The Ibiza continues to be active and is now in its fourth generation.

In addition to the aforementioned Renault and Seat, the Alfa Romeo, Mercedes, Porsche and Harley Davidson brands will be represented in this edition of the show with different exhibitions that will show the evolution in design and technology of some of their most historic models.

TRIBUTE TO RAMÓN LÓPEZ AND HISPAKART

Other automobile references "made in Spain" have a name and surname. Is called Ramon Lopez Villaba and he was one of the pioneering kart builders in Spain in 1958, who also created the Hispakart brand and the «Los Diablos Rojos» team. Mechanic, builder, trainer and driver, this man is a living legend of Spanish motorsports and will be the object of a tribute with the exhibition of some of his most outstanding works.

The two wheels also carry a Spanish signature. An exhibition of Bultaco Frontera, with units manufactured between 1975 and 1982, will convey the emotion and adventure of the open spaces in which this motorcycle shone with its own light.

Around half a thousand classic vehicles, including cars and motorcycles, will be exhibited in this edition of ClassicAuto Madrid. More than 20.000 square meters, distributed over three floors, They will host nearly 300 exhibitors from a dozen countries. The International Classic Vehicle Show will bring together the main companies in the sector that will make restored automobiles and motorcycles available to collectors, fans and the public; accessories and components for equipping or repairing vehicles; and textiles, accessories and publications.

One of the novelties of this edition arrives with the new redistribution of the exhibition space, aimed at improving the commercial activity of the monograph. In this sense, the top floor will exclusively house restored vehicle marketers, official brands, sponsors, clubs and the elegance contest; On the mezzanine floor there will be exhibitors for automobilia, spare parts, accessories, vehicles to restore and motorcycles, among others. Finally, on the ground floor, in addition to accessories, spare parts, complements or editorials, the Private Space will be located for the sale of cars whose value does not exceed 12.000 euros and motorcycles that change hands below 5.000.

Pegasines and sport

The celebration of ClassicAuto Madrid contributes to highlighting the Spanish sector of the restoration of classic vehicles, made up of professionals and companies that enjoy great prestige in international markets. The Madrid show is today an outstanding piece in the promotion of this automotive segment and in the projection of its dynamism, competitiveness and quality.

Continuing with the chapter of excellence presented by this new edition of ClassicAuto, it is necessary to highlight the exhibition of a vehicle that, although not Spanish-made, was largely the product of a national brand. This is the Pegaso Z102 BS2E -Berlineta Saoutchik 2nd Special Series-, a unique car in the world.

This car of which there is only one unit was a model designed by the French bodybuilder of Russian origin Jacques Saoutchik, who made dresses for the leading brand in the Spanish automotive sector. This vehicle was acquired at that time by Pedro Solís Laso de la Vega, Duke of Osuna, who brought it to Madrid in 1955 and registered it with the registration number M-13658. Later it belonged to the family of Knight pilot Antonio Creus. Sixty years later, and after an arduous restoration process carried out by Juan Lumbreras, the winged horse returns to Madrid looking in all its splendor.

This 2014 we celebrate, as a classic motor event, our first five years with a program of activities that broadens its horizons towards the sportiest side of the historical vehicle world. We will have more than a dozen activities, with tributes, contests, thematic exhibitions, rallies, etc., which aim to seek interaction between all fans, while once again highlighting the history of the sports car.

♦ A life of film - 80 years of the Citroën Traction Avant: The 80th anniversary of this car will be celebrated by the Citroën Traction Avant Avant Club in Madrid, with an exhibition of the seven bodies manufactured between 1934 and 1956.

The Citroën Traction Avant was presented at the Paris Motor Show in 1934. It is considered by some to be the first European car of modern industry, but for everyone he is a pioneer, an advanced of its time that left all the competition obsolete with its launch on the market. The Citroën Traction Avant incorporated all the novelties of the moment in series production; a dream come true of its main supporter, André Citroën.

He disappeared in 1957, but today his versatile, agile and stately figure continues to be seen in countless film productions and social events.
