Donald Trump's Lamborghini Diablo manages to sell for a record price

This car was bought new in 1997 by the controversial Donald Trump long before running for president of the United States, and now it has broken the price record among Lamborghini Diablos sold at auction.

Any collectible item related to a president of the United States becomes a highly desired object.. Among the few pieces that occasionally go on sale, the personal cars of leaders tend to be the ones that attract the most attention.

It is important to mention that these vehicles were purchased by the presidents before taking office, since As soon as they take their oath, they cannot drive again. for the rest of their lives.

The most recent on this list of pseudo-presidential cars has been the 1997 Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster that Donald Trump bought new. It is known that before his political career this New Yorker was a television superstar and a construction magnate, and he was probably the only American president to have owned a Lamborghini, and he also had his own edition of Cadillac limousines in the eighties.

A NEW RECORD AT AUCTION

Beyond the attraction it represents for the eyes of collectors the supercar of a former president, especially one as controversial as Donald Trump has been, and continues to be, this Lamborghini is something special.

The Diablo was born in 1991 as the successor to the beloved Countach, and over the years it begins to gain the public's favoritism, something that translates into higher prices. The unit that has recently been auctioned is a VT that has an ingenious viscous suspension system, and of which Only 132 units were produced for the US market between 1997 and 1999.. Added to this is the appeal of the roadster version.

In addition, the car was purchased by the then businessman and celebrity in order to promote his other businesses. Given the good relationship between Trump and the Italian brand, he was allowed to place a special order; The Diablo was painted in Blu Le Mans color, a paint that Lamborghini did not offer in that year, thus making it unique. A plaque was also added to the door frame that reads “Donald Trump 1997 Devil".

Trump owned the car until 2002.. Since then it has changed hands twice, and has 24.834 kilometers on the odometer, although CARFAX assures that there is an inconsistency regarding this figure.

This Lamborghini Diablo has sold at the Scottsdale auction organized by Barrett-Jackson for a whopping 1.100.000 dollars, a record price for this model which perhaps sets a precedent for future sales and possible upward prices.

This thing about cars comes to one since childhood. When other kids preferred the bicycle or the ball, I kept the toy cars.
I still remember as if it were yesterday a day when a black 1500 overtook us on the A2, or the first time I saw a Citroën DS parked on the street, I have always liked chrome bumpers.

In general, I like things from before the time I was born (some say I'm reincarnated), and at the top of that list are cars, which, together with music, make the ideal combination for a perfect time: driving and a soundtrack according to the corresponding car.

As for cars, I like classics of any nationality and era, but my weakness is American cars from the 50s, with their exaggerated shapes and dimensions, which is why many people know me as "Javillac".
