Finding: SEAT Ritmo 75 CL, almost impossible to recover

There are times when encounters with abandoned classics generate a pang of pain when realizing that it will be difficult for them to be rescued and brought back to life.

On this occasion, we talk about discovery of a SEAT Ritmo 75 CL in the middle of a thicket, where, given what we have seen, it has been going on for a long time. So much so that it seems very complicated that no one in their right mind is going to try to recover it, no matter how sad it may be for the state of abandonment in which it has been found for decades. Furthermore, the fact that it is a popular car, that is, of almost sentimental value, does not invite an investment that will clearly exceed the final value of the Rhythm.

Let us remember that the SEAT Ritmo was presented in the Barcelona Hall of 1979 to replace the veteran 124 within what is now called the C segment. In addition, it had a more modern mechanical conception, with a transverse front engine and front-wheel drive. With groundbreaking lines -“Times change. “Cars too,” read the advertising of the time, “it was the first model of the brand to use a word in its name instead of a number.

It had 1.197 cm gasoline engines3 and 64 HP and 1.438 cm3 and 77 HP, associated with the L and CL finishes that resulted in the versions 65 L, 65 CL and 75 CL. Later a 1.7 diesel with 55 HP would arrive in the so-called Rhythm DIn addition 75 CLX with five-speed gearbox and the scarce Chrono Rhythm 100. This one was equipped with a 1.6 dual-shaft engine with 95 HP of power. After the breakup of the SEAT and Fiat, the Ritmo was discontinued in the summer of 1982 after 118.480 units have been produced. He would take over Ronda, after overcoming the famous Paris arbitration in which the very survival of the brand was at stake.

FINDING OF A SEAT RITMO 75 CL

This week we learned about this Rhythm abandoned to its fate. As the side badges clearly indicate, it is a 75 CL, that is, equip the 1430 engine and produces 77 hp at 5.600 rpm. As we see in the images, it originally sported the model's classic blue color (Azzurro Met), but it was later painted red. The body tone is deceiving, well looks more rusty than it really is, which is not little. In addition, someone has dedicated himself to using him as a target, since he has several shots on the left side.

When you open the front hood, we discover that the engine has been tampered with, possibly with the intention of taking a spare part. At least he had all the windows, with the exception of the windshield, which was smashed by some vandal. This has made the interior in an even worse state, as it is left exposed to the elements. In fact, the brambles are also beginning to roam freely in the cabin.

You can discover the full state of Ritmo 75 CL in the video on YouTube channel Alfredo Yugo which we publish below. We recommend that you subscribe so as not to miss any of the news published weekly.

I am lucky to have turned my passion into my way of earning a living. Since I left the Faculty of Information Sciences in 2004, I have been professionally dedicated to motor journalism. I started in the magazine Coches Clásicos in its beginnings, going on to direct it in 2012, the year in which I also took charge of Clásicos Populares. Throughout these almost two decades of my professional career, I have worked in all types of media, including magazines, radio, the web and television, always in formats and programs related to the engine. I am crazy about the classics, Formula 1 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
