A few weeks ago we exposed in LA ESCUDERÍA the curious and unusual case of Renault Seven that ended up in the hands of a Japanese fan. What is striking about this story is that This model was the only one that the FASA factory in Valladolid manufactured exclusively for the Spanish market., and units outside this country are counted.
This article reached Agustí, who was one of the previous owners of this unit, and who has decided to share with the editorial staff and with the readers of this magazine some images and details about the life that this R-Siete led before reaching the other side of the world, where he now makes a car collector from the rhombus firm very happy.
AN AUTHENTIC BARN FIND
The history of this very first series Renault Siete began in 1975, when it left the factory. FASA-Renault and was assigned chassis number 6.043, making it one of the oldest units preserved. He was registered in Valencia in April of that same year and was in the hands of the same family for years, until more modern vehicles took his place, until he was relegated to the corner of a garage to be condemned to sleep. of the righteous
It took ten years of lethargy for the Seven to see the light of day and receive attention again. The car was lucky enough to find Agustí, who was able to appreciate how special this unit was, which had a very low license plate and frame. in addition to a beautiful indigo blue color, exclusive to the first series, and which had lost a little shine after almost forty years.
Although the Renault was forgotten for a long time, it could be seen that it had received a lifetime of care, as its condition was excellent and It only took a polishing of its paint and the mechanical rehabilitation that any old car that has been stopped for a long time needs to get it back on the road.. Agustí was enjoying this unit as a classic for years, until a new rescue of another first series led him to sell it.
THE SEVEN EMIGRANT
The car arrived at Antequera Classic in Valencia in 2018, and aware of the interest that the Siete and 7 arouse due to their rarity outside of Spain, they managed to announce the car to an international audience. The lucky future owner of this fabulous unit was a citizen of Belgium, but his European journey would be brief, because the Valencian Renault still had a way to go.
Shortly afterwards it fell into the hands of a collector of classic Renaults in Japan, who, captivated by the rarity of this Spanish model, acquired a unique car in this country. Japanese fans highly value classic European vehicles, and its current owner, Katsuyuki is delighted to receive Spanish fans, as he claims to say that the Seven is the right eye of his collection, and that causes as many smiles as it did in his homeland, although we assume that astonishment there must be greater.
