Exhibition-Tribute to Pedro Serra at the Retromóvil show in Madrid

Pedro Serra, the most renowned Spanish postwar bodybuilder, died on February 17 of this year. Therefore, the company Motor events wanted to dedicate a deserved posthumous tribute to him, which will take place in the framework of the next show Retromobile Madrid, which will be held at the Ifema fairgrounds between December 15 and 17.

The tribute will consist of a varied exhibition with many of his most renowned works. Pedro Serra (1926-2017), created in his "Pullman Workshops" Barcelona bodies of all types. At first he dedicated himself to transforming and giving new life to battered prewar vehicles, but over time he came to work on the most famous chassis of those years, including brands such as Bentley, Ferrari or Aston Martin. In its heyday (1955-1965), it manufactured small series of some models, such as the Clua micro cars or Seat 1400 Convertible, that were even distributed through the brand's official dealer network.

He also worked with different materials, being one of the pioneers in the use of fiberglass in Spain, for example with the Dodge Boulevard of the 70s, of which a short series of several units was also manufactured. And all this, of course, without forgetting the various achievements on popular Spanish vehicles such as the Renault 4/4 from FASA, the Citroën Dyane 6 produced in Vigo or the legendary Seat 600, on which he made up to five totally different versions.

Ten Units in Retromóvil Madrid

For the Retromóvil de Madrid exhibition we will have a selection of around ten units representative of the work of the Barcelona master. The sample will include two very different units of the Seat 1400 B convertible, both exposed to the public for the first time after many years "in absolute oblivion", and from the same brand, also a fully restored 600 Corver convertible.

You will also be able to see an exclusive Clua microcar, one of only 3 surviving units, of which only two are in running order. The Morgan that Serra floated in the late 50s is a highly original piece that has hardly been seen at events since its restoration some five years ago, and Retromóvil attendees will have the opportunity to examine it closely.

The Museum of Salamanca also collaborates with this exhibition, with the loan of the Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith bodied by Serra in 1959 and the Pegasus Spyder Serra 1953 prototype, two very significant works of the versatility of the Catalan bodybuilder. And in addition to all these, you can see other units, some of them little known in the Serra catalog. It will undoubtedly be a unique opportunity to contemplate live the mastery of Pedro Serra, the postwar bodybuilder of Spain par excellence.
