A very rare Fiam for sale in Spain

A Fiam? But what is that? Quite a stranger, of course, and also a resident of our country since it was put into circulation. Catawiki has put it up for auction and, incidentally, has drawn attention to the short-lived Italian brand. We reproduce the description of the batch below to better understand the matter, and it is that something new is learned every day ...

This Fiam Torpedo from 1924 it is most likely the only preserved specimen of the around 200 units manufactured by the Italian Fabbrica Automobili e Motori in Turin. It has kept absolutely all the original components and only a slight restoration was carried out more than 30 years ago.

All existing documentation on the brand indicates that production began in 1924, although the designs date from 1921. This unit, however, has documentation and registration from 1921.

It mounts its original 706 cc two-cylinder two-stroke engine at 2500 rpm. On the front axle it mounts a curious suspension with semi-elliptical double leaf springs on each wheel. It is stamped with production number 155.

After being presented at the Milan salon in 1924, the Fiam They were only manufactured until 1927. The sheet metal and paint, except for small details, is in very good condition. It mounts a beautiful single-door convertible “Torpedo” body with a “bordino tip” at the rear, quite possibly the work of Marcello Alessio, who was the brand's bodybuilder.

It was originally sold in Spain, where it has been since new. It still has its original Spanish license plate of the time. The car made its last start in 2010 and since then it has been on trestles and free of all fluid.

Anyway, it has been a pleasure to meet you Fiam. Because if a Spanish buyer does not remedy it, it is very likely that you will find a home abroad ... 🙁

What do you think?
