DeLorean “Time Machine”, you can travel in time for less than you imagine

It is not uncommon to find units of the DeLorean for sale, but replicating the one in the movies in such detail is more complicated. Will he really travel through time?

The French auction house Petrol This legendary unit is for sale. DMC DeLorean from the saga Back to the Future. In addition, it is a replica made in the image and likeness of the car that appears in the movies, which makes it more interesting if possible. In fact, the person in charge of preparation has been Coulombe Enterprises LLC, subcontractor of Universal Studio, producer of the trilogies. In fact, the unit for sale has the specifications that the DeLorean of “Doc” and Marti McFly at the end of the first movie.

The basis is un D.M.C. DeLorean from 1981 with 9.700 miles on its odometer, that is, less than 16.00 kilometers. Perhaps for this reason, the mechanical and body appearance that it presents is really good. As a curiosity, it was never commercially called DMC-12, although that is how it is frequently known. That was the name it received during its development, but it has continued to be used later, as happened with the Ferrari gto, which was not called 288.

If we look at the exterior, the stainless steel body characteristic of the DeLorean looks in excellent condition. Also inside we see the gray leather upholstery, they are in good condition, with no tears or holes. It does, however, present some typical signs of wear from use. Both the steering wheel and the dashboard are in good shape. All in line with the advertised kilometers travelled.

THE PREPARATION OF THE DELOREAN «TIME MACHINE»

Although, without a doubt, what draws the most attention about the unit for sale at Benzin is the preparation it looks like. As we have already advanced, has been modified in the image and likeness of the DeLorean of Back to the Future, including the entire series of odds and ends shown in the movie. In fact, it includes lighting and effects such as smoke to give it greater realism.

A realism that is also transferred to the cabin, where we find equipment identical to that of the DeLorean in the movie, which also work perfectly. It even has the signature on the passenger parasol of Christopher Lloyd, the actor who played Emmett “Doc” Brown, creator of the time machine. Benzin has published a video explaining how all the Gadgets car.

With everything, It retains its original 2,85-liter, 6-cylinder V-shaped engine that produces 130 HP., low power for a car of such design. In fact, one of the main criticisms it received at the time was this infromomotorization, which surely contributed to it being a commercial failure. The wheels are also original to the model, as is the five-speed gearbox.

In any case, you don't need much power to travel through time, as our protagonist demonstrates, as long as it's not literally, of course. And, unfortunately, The only thing that this “Time Machine” DeLorean does not equip is the flux capacitor, something that I'm sure you already assumed.

TO TRADITIONAL

The car is located in France, specifically in the town of La Celle Saint Cloud, near Paris, where it is possible to visit it. It has a French registration, a valid MOT for six months, invoices and a complete appraisal report.. That is, ready to become part of our collection.

Bidding for the DeLorean “Time Machine” closes in less than two weeks, so we can periodically visit the Benzin's website -totally in Spanish- to see how the quote is progressing. And, as the header of their auction says, “If you're going to travel through time in a car, you better choose one that looks good.”
