The publication of a book on automotive history is always excellent news. If, in addition, the theme is related to the automobile in Spain, the joy is double. Both premises are fulfilled in this case, since Paul Murillo presents his new work, titled SEAT 600 Special Bodywork. Its history and its creators, with which he returns to the subject of derivatives of the 600. It is his second book, after the one dedicated to the SEAT 800, which has returned to reissue, as we told you recently.
The book makes an exhaustive analysis of the history of cars with special bodies derived from the well-remembered SEAT 600. It covers from the first out-of-series examples with bodies after the start of marketing the “Six hundred” in 1957, to the latest models presented to the public. in 1982. Research on the designers and coachbuilders who used the 600 platform in our country to create all kinds of vehicles.
We talk about sports like the Conti 850 or the Nardi 750, convertibles like the Serra Roadster, commercials like the Siata Formichetta or beach like the Rany. All at a time when the national automobile offer was extremely limited and imports were reduced, which only made talent and imagination proliferate.
In short, Pablo Murillo's book is essential to understand the automotive panorama of Spain in the 50s, 60s and 70s. In addition, values the efforts of those creators, whose works are currently coveted collector's items.
