The cars that are celebrating their anniversary in this year 2024

The newly released year of 2024 is full of cars that celebrate a round anniversary, so today we review some of the models that are between forty and ninety years old.

There are many cars that in 2024 will celebrate important anniversaries from their presentation date. For today's list we will focus on the vehicles that debut a dozen new ones, these being those presented in 1984, 1974, 1964, 1954 and 1934, since during World War II there were no presentations of automobiles for civilian use.

We also do not forget the models born in 1994 and that are introduced this year in the world of classic cars that will receive their own list soon just like they did 1993 cars last year.

CARS THAT TURN 40 YEARS

We start the list in chronological order, and 1984 introduced great news in the automotive world. It was a very special year for Ferrari, which introduced two of its biggest icons of this decade; el Testarossa and the 288 GTO.

Renault also celebrates two anniversaries in 2024, since it has been forty years since they presented the Renault Supercinco and the revolutionary Espace, which introduced the concept of minivans to the European market.

In Spain we celebrate the start of production of the SEAT Ibiza, the most successful national car to date and that was essential to ensure the survival of the brand. Forty years have also passed since the presentation of the Citroën C15, the legendary light van that had a long commercial life, as it was manufactured in Vigo until 2005.

Germany also presented two very important models; the Mercedes W124 of the E Class, and the Opel Kadett E, the latter being one of the cars that sold the most in Spain in the eighties.

CARS THAT TURN 50 YEARS

Although 1974 was the first year in which the automobile industry was immersed in the oil crisis, many new models were introduced, such as the Volkswagen Golf, which was born as a replacement for the old Beetle.

In Spain it was an important year because three exclusive models were presented for the country; el SEAT 133, the four-door variant of the 127 and the Renault Siete, the only model manufactured solely at FASA in Valladolid and that did not have a French counterpart.

In Italy it appeared the modern Fiat 131, for which we would have to wait another year to see its debut at SEAT. Another Italian brand, Lamborghini, presented the radical Countach, an avant-garde supercar that would remain in production until the 1990s.

Large sedans also appear like the modern Citroën CX that took the baton from the legendary DS, and the Volvo 200 Series appears, which would become the most popular model in the brand's history.

CARS THAT TURN 60 YEARS

In 1964 it presented some of the great icons of the automobile world whose production has continued to this day for several generations, such as the Porsche 911 and the Ford Mustang.

In the world of muscle cars The Pontiac GTO appears for the first time, which was born as a finish within the catalog of the Tempest LeMans, a car that was born from the ingenuity of General Motors director John Delorean.

In Italy the Fiat 850 appears, a range that would not arrive in Spain until 1966. In SEAT begins manufacturing the 800, four-door variant of the popular 600, exclusive to the Spanish market and made by Carrocerías Costa.

CARS THAT TURN 70 YEARS

As the mid-fifties approached, the economic hardships of the postwar period were being left behind and Work began on modern sports cars.

The year 54 was remembered for introducing legendary models such as the Mercedes 300SL, with which in turn the SL dynasty of the brand began, the Jaguar D-Type and XK140, and in the grand tourism sector appears the Facel Vega FV. That same year the first Alfa Romeo Giulietta.

CARS THAT TURN 90 YEARS

We go back in time to 1934 to conclude this list. This year was marked by the presentation of models very advanced for their time and completely avant-garde.

El Citroen Traction Avant turns ninety, a car that had an extremely expensive development and that led André Citroën to ruin. This modern vehicle pioneered the use of front-wheel drive in Europe and remained in production until 1957.

As well debuted on Chrysler Airflow, an overly futuristic car that failed commercially and that made use of bodies designed with aerodynamic shapes. It was also presented the luxurious Bugatti Type 57, a very exclusive vehicle that is remembered as one of the brand's great cars.

This thing about cars comes to one since childhood. When other kids preferred the bicycle or the ball, I kept the toy cars.
I still remember as if it were yesterday a day when a black 1500 overtook us on the A2, or the first time I saw a Citroën DS parked on the street, I have always liked chrome bumpers.

In general, I like things from before the time I was born (some say I'm reincarnated), and at the top of that list are cars, which, together with music, make the ideal combination for a perfect time: driving and a soundtrack according to the corresponding car.

As for cars, I like classics of any nationality and era, but my weakness is American cars from the 50s, with their exaggerated shapes and dimensions, which is why many people know me as "Javillac".
