Chronicle: Rallye de Extremadura Histórico, second round of CERVH

On April 14 and 15, the second scoring round of the Spanish Rally Championship for Historic Vehicles was held.

The Spanish Rally Championship for Historic Vehicles continues its course and has already held its second event, in this case the Rallye de Extremadura Histórico. It's about the nninth edition of the competition organized by Volantia Racing Club, which was played on April 14 and 15. The route consisted of nine special tests in five different timed sections.

Recall that el CERVH is divided into a whole series of categories depending on the modality and the age of the cars. In this way, in speed, we have the Pre 2000, Pre 90 and Pre 81. To these are added the Classic Spain Cup and the Classic Silhouette Trophy. In addition, there are two categories of regularity, normal and Sport.

So things, in each test we have a whole series of winners and podiums depending on each category, without consecrating an absolute winner.

SPEED PRE 2000 AND PRE 81

In the Pre 2000 category, Manuel Muniente and Ezequiel Salgueiro dominated from start to finish in the Rallye de Extremadura Histórico. To such an extent, that they signed the best time in all the specials with their BMW M3. They thus compensated for the bad start of the course in the Costa Brava.

At the controls of his Peugeot 306, Óscar García and María Jesús Cabalga took second place which places them as leaders of the classification they generate. The Asturians Juan Manuel Rúa and Luis Fernando Alvarez-Cascos, with a Citroën Saxo, completed the podium.

The Catalan Joan Riberas and his Asturian co-pilot Alvaro Menendez they won in Pre 81 with their Porsche 911SC. Thus, stand out in the overall championship, since they added all the points in dispute in the Rallye de Extremadura Histórico.

PRE90 SPEED, CLASSIC SPANISH CUP AND SILHOUETTES

Antonio Dezcallar and Jose Antonio Sans managed to prevail among the Pre 90, thanks to the Super Rallye formula, since on Friday they could not start due to a problem with their Toyota Celica. Santiago Barragán and Francisco Javier achieved second place, despite a rally in which their Subaru Legacy did not stop giving problems.

Regarding the Classic Spain Cup, the victory of Ángel Domínguez and Raquel Quintana with their Opel Corsa makes them stand out in front of the general classification. Debacle between the three participants in the Classic Silhouette Trophy, since they were all condemned to abandon.

REGULARITY SPORT AND REGULARITY

The Majorcans Jaime and Enrique Carbonell they achieved the victory in Regularity Sport with his Ford Sierra Cosworth. They endured the type in front of the other Sierra of the champions asier santamaria y Roberto Renteria, who rose to second place. They had fallen to sixth after a slight start, but their recovery did not lead to victory.

The canaries completed the podium in the category Carlos Javier Jorge and Sergio Marrero with their effective Porsche 911SC. In the end they overtook José Luis Moreno and Isidre Esteve, who were losing positions after taking the lead on Friday.

In Regularity, again equality was maximum. Odón Muñíz and Roberto Rodríguez finally achieved victory with their Lancia Delta, after beating the Porsche 944 Turbo of Toni Verdaguer and "Meius" Mora. These are placed in front of the general. Darío José García and Emilio Pascual completed the podium at the controls of a BMW 325i.

After the Rallye de Extremadura Histórico, the next CERVH event is the Historical Rally of Asturias, which will be held on the 12th and 13st of May.
