El BMW 507 It is one of those beautiful cars of which very few units were manufactured back in the 50s. Any news about this rare sports car tends to arouse interest, especially if the example in question belonged to a legendary character such as the king of the Rock And Roll.
Elvis Presley served in the military service in the German town of Bad Neuheim between 1958 and 1960, and for that mission he was carried out - it seems that he rented in a similar way to leasing - with a BMW 507 that had been part of the brand's test fleet . Of course, before handing it over the German house made the necessary adjustments: it installed a new V8 and a new transmission.
The car was reportedly originally white, although Elvis decided to paint it red to curb the wave of women who constantly wrote their phone with lipstick on the body.
Official restoration
The history of 507 once Elvis returns to the United States, and how it separates from him, is somewhat uncertain. Apparently, in 1968 it ended up in the hands of Jack Castor, a Californian engineer who kept it in a warehouse for decades until a few months ago he contacted BMW headquarters in Munich with the intention of restoring it.
The car will be on display until August 10 at the BMWMuseum, then to be restored for two years in the division of historic vehicles of the Bavarian brand.
