III Concentration of Classic Cars of Grañén

The Monegrino town of Grañén (famous for having fallen the Big Christmas Lottery there in 2011), in Huesca, celebrates its main festivals in honor of Santiago Apostol from July 24 to 27. The previous weekend, a good number of activities and pre-party events take place that fill the streets of the town with color and music.

One of those events is the Classic Car Concentration, which in this third edition held on Sunday June 20 has established itself as a benchmark in the Aragon region by the ever-increasing number of participants and the quality of the attending vehicles, ranging from "pre-war" veterans to vehicles from the 80s.

According to its organizer, Domingo Gracia, the idea came about three years ago. Then 30 vehicles participated, in the second edition they were double and on this occasion they expected about 87. The truth is that the forecasts fell short, and almost 110 cars came from collectors' clubs in Zaragoza, Huesca, Monzón and Lérida.

The clubs contributed from sports models from the first of these cities, to American models from Alto Aragón, passing through the most popular vehicles from the 60s and 70s of the capital city in an enviable state of preservation.

A success

The event began around eleven thirty in the morning on Avenida de Ramón y Cajal. It was planned that all the vehicles would give an exhibition tour around the municipality, but the organization was overwhelmed by the number of participants and preferred to leave the cars on display due to the enormous difficulty of controlling and directing such a large caravan.

The day ended with the awarding of trophies to the oldest, best preserved, most spectacular classics and from further afield.

Afterwards, the City Council of Grañen offered a meal for the participants. Its mayor, D. Carlos Sampériz, also hopes that new fans will emerge among those attending the rally and that it will serve to make the town known to visitors.

What do you think?
