The first general rule of thumb is that there are always exceptions. Even Alfa Romeo has them. And it is that, in the history of «Quadrifoglio »Not all are vibrant asphalt cars. But what we have seen in this video ... is out of the question. After all, it is still a completely modified car. Completely Modified from a '105 Alfa Romeo 74 GTV. On that basis, and with not a few hours of mechanics putting together parts from other models, it has been possible to mount this Alfa on gigantic wheels. And boy, from what we see in this video ... it works!
HOW AN ACCIDENT GAVE A NEW LIFE TO THIS ALPHA
Until a few years ago this Alfa was just another GTV. Its precious metal color finished off with that yellow stripe on the front distinguished it from the rest but… it was still just another Giulia coupé of the many that we can still see competing in historic rallies today. Everything was going normally until one fateful morning. While he was being transported by crane to a workshop, he fell from it in full swing ... The result? Total sinister. Smashed body and mechanics.
However, in this case the opportunity of misfortune was made. Posts to rebuild the car ... why not do something really original? If this Alpha had laid out not a few mountain roads, now it would lay bare mountains. An all-rounder. For this, the modification has focused a lot on the suspensions, which have been made from a mixture of Parts sourced from the Ford Bronco, the Land Rover Defender, and when something didn't fit, made specifically for this unit.
Finally, the mechanics have also received a serious overhaul. Based on the 2.0-liter 130 hp engine, adjustments have been made to give this Alfa more power. Especially focusing on pistons capable of working at higher compression within the cylinder. That ensures more power and torque just in those moments when any off-roader needs to give a good “arreón”.
WHAT WILL GIUGIARO THINK?
The beautiful lines of the Alfa Romeo 105 were designed by Giogetto giugiaro within Bertone in the 60s. We do not know if you have seen this "interpretation" of the model, but if you did ... we would love to hear your opinion. For many, this will be no less than a "aberration”. Gathering under the emblem of the Quadriofoglio pieces from brands as foreign to it as Land Rover or Ford ...
However - and without wanting to get into controversy - this modification has managed to reinvent an Alpha that many would have given to scrap. What's more, It has the virtue of leaving no one indifferent, being an exercise in artisan mechanics and… come on, we are going to get into controversy: we have loved it as the former did.
