The Microlino, the urban vehicle inspired by the legendary Isetta, is now on sale in Spain

This week the Microlino was launched on the market, a two-seater electric vehicle whose design draws on the classic Isetta, bringing a touch of tradition to the future.

Modern interpretations of classic models have been a constant in recent years, but what the Microlino has done with the Isetta takes the cake. It is a total inspiration from the model that the Italian ISO began producing in 1953. It is a perfect reproduction of what the mythical urban car would be like in the XNUMXst century, recovering an idea, that of the front door, which continues to mix genius with madness.

Be that as it may, the Microlino aims to become the reference when it comes to sustainable mobility. And that, in these times, involves placing the consumer as the protagonist, or what is the same, offering, in addition to the traditional way of selling to the end customer, have a Microlino through the astara Move subscription and, soon, through the formula of sharing.

WHAT IS THE MICROLINO LIKE?

We are talking about a model born in Switzerland, but produced in Italy, like the original Isetta, specifically in Turin. It's about a Two-seater electric vehicle with a 12,5 kW electric motor, that is, about 17 HP. Here the Microlino surpasses the Isetta, which, in its most powerful version, the BMW version, barely reached 12 HP. It is available with three different batteries, with ranges of autonomy of 91, 177 and 230 kilometers.

promise 90 km/h maximum speed and 0-50 km/h in less than 5 seconds, this section, that of acceleration, more than important in urban circulation. It has 230 liters of trunk, more than notable for its size and enough for everyday luggage in the city.

As it could not be otherwise, its size is very compact, since It barely measures 2 and a half meters long by 1,5 meters wide.. Therefore, it is only slightly larger than the Isetta, making it easy to park in almost any parking space. The chassis is a self-supporting monocoque and has independent suspension on all four wheels. The door is made of reinforced steel and the body is made of aluminum, which allows the Microlino to weigh less than 500 kilos, a figure almost identical to that of the Isetta in its time.

HOW MUCH DOES MICROLINO COST?

I started in the magazine Coches Clásicos in its beginnings, going on to direct it in 2012, the year in which I also took charge of Clásicos Populares. Throughout these almost two decades of my professional career, I have worked in all types of media, including magazines, radio, the web and television, always in formats and programs related to the engine. I am crazy about the classics, Formula 1 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
