As you may have already seen, at LA ESCUDERÍA we are passionate about Alcañiz Circuit, so, whenever we can, we share stories about it. On this occasion, we talk about a Renault 8 TS and a Mégane Coupé Copa that competed in their time on the streets of the Guadalope Circuit and which, in addition, are in the possession of a local collector, Ángel Martínez.
Known in the Aragon racing scene as “Pepinero”, we are talking about a driver who ran up to 15 times in Alcaniz and achieved no less than nine podiums. Among the cars in its collection, these two cars stand out, which also serve to see the involvement that the French brand has always had in racing.
El Renault 8 TS belonged to the much missed Paco Fillola, a real gentleman of the races who trusted Ángel for the preparation of this unit. It is a copy that has never been registered, since It has been used in competition since day one. In the video, we will not only learn its history, but we will be able to see it roll around the modern Motorland layout.
THE REANULT MÉGANE COUPÉ COPA
Next to it, we find another gem, although it may be harder to value it as such because it is much more modern. We refer to the Mégane Coupé of the Cup, a unit that remains completely original, which allows us to see what these cars were really like, many of which have undergone modifications since they have continued competing afterwards.
The pilot José Luis Muniesa, alias “Pacal”, also acts as master of ceremonies in the video. Besides, had the opportunity to compete against Ángel Martínez and his Mégane at the time. Throughout the 75 minutes of the video, we will learn the history of these very special units and, in addition, we will be able to see them in action at Motorland.
