#Mad94: this is how they celebrated more than 600 cars that are already more than 30 years old

The event that sought to commemorate the year 1994 had a great reception on social networks and the public attendance was excellent, in an event that sought to welcome the new classics that this year celebrated their third decade.

#Mad94 promised to be a much bigger event than last year and it more than delivered. The idea began in 2023 with #Mad93, a meeting in which the new classics that turned 30 years old were received old, and that for that occasion the scene of a parking lot was recreated in 1993.

The call that time on social networks was very powerful but much less than this year, since at that time it was practically only in charge of Dani de @nosinmiclasico, and they still managed to exceed expectations, with more than 120 cars gathered. By 2024 the intention was to improve in every way, so a team of organizers had to be formed among which were @tractoneta, @niki.garage, @adrianlagecars, @cochealia and the collection of SEAT on the road, with each one bringing one of their cars to the appointment.

Unlike 2023 this event was not held in Madrid capital, instead the concentration took place in The Driver's City Tower from parla, a large space used as a driving school that Desguace provided for the occasion, which also has a large cafeteria that was open to attendees. The reason for the change of location was none other than to avoid the sanctions that the capital's city council has been applying since 2024, so the organization had to literally say "not without my classic."

A RESPONSIVE SUCCESS

Things were promising from the beginning, because from the moment registrations were opened, which were initially for 400 cars, the response on social networks was massive and very fast, selling out shortly after. Much of The key to this success is having organizers who are known on the internet as influencers from the world of classic motors., so the call for the call was tremendous.

The idea was to bring together vehicles of all types manufactured in 1994 or before, although the exception would be made for later vehicles that were already in production in '94. From the first hour the classics began to fill the Parla facilities, in an incessant traffic of vehicles that quickly occupied a large part of the space, and which also helped the La Torre workers themselves when parking.

Since the day was a little overcast, it was decided to give priority to the parking spaces located in the warehouse provided by La Torre. Some of the most special and rare cars and motorcycles would be located there, which would end up being a few, since the total amounted to More than 600 vehicles attended, exceeding the organizers' forecasts.

There was some of the most iconic cars of the 80s and 90sAs an Delorean, the fantastic car and even a Ford Explorer like the one in Jurassic Park. The group Black Suits provided the soundtrack to the event, while the comedian Javito Rivas, which has recently been awarded the first FEVA prize of Youth and Training, announced the awards and did one of his “Less than cars” monologues.

Several gifts were drawn at random using ballots, but There were also a wide variety of prizes; to the best dressed; to the oldest car, which won a 1924 Delage; to the furthest one, which curiously was the oldest Peugeot 205 preserved in Spain and that he arrived from Barcelona rolling; the rarest one, which was taken by a ZAZ 968 made in Ukraine; and finally the most appropriate for 1994, which ended up in a Citron ZX which was the car of the year in Spain in '94.

It was a great event that left a good memory for all those present, the atmosphere was unbeatable, and we would dare to say unsurpassed, but knowing the team that organizes these concentrations, I am sure that next year they will surprise again. At the moment All that remains is to thank them for their efforts in taking us back to 1994 for a while, and we can't wait to see what they have in store for 1995.

This thing about cars comes to one since childhood. When other kids preferred the bicycle or the ball, I kept the toy cars.
I still remember as if it were yesterday a day when a black 1500 overtook us on the A2, or the first time I saw a Citroën DS parked on the street, I have always liked chrome bumpers.

In general, I like things from before the time I was born (some say I'm reincarnated), and at the top of that list are cars, which, together with music, make the ideal combination for a perfect time: driving and a soundtrack according to the corresponding car.

As for cars, I like classics of any nationality and era, but my weakness is American cars from the 50s, with their exaggerated shapes and dimensions, which is why many people know me as "Javillac".
