Until then, the brand whose emblem is the bull built tractors, and It was not until October 1963 that the newborn Automobili Lamborghini presented its first prototype; the 350 GTV, the work of Franco Scaglione and built in the Turin company of Carrozzeria Sargiotto.
The 350 GTV prototype, of which only one unit was built, laid the foundations for a model that has been sixty years since its presentation. At the Geneva Motor Show, where many of the great Italian cars usually make their public debut, the Lamborghini 350 GT was introduced with Ferruccio himself present to answer questions from attendees and show the first of many cars that would bear his surname.
60 YEARS MAKING HISTORY
On the occasion of the sixty years that will be celebrated in March of that Geneva Motor Show of 1964, The brand has brought the Lamborghini 350 GT to this city with chassis code number two, making it the oldest surviving production Lamborghini.. The first 350 GT was sold to the drummer of an important Italian jazz group, starting a long tradition of artists who had a Lamborghini, such as Frank Sinatra or Rod Stewart. Unfortunately, this first Lamborghini was lost due to a traffic accident when it was stopped at a traffic light.
The car was characterized by a curious 2+1-seater configuration, in addition to equipping a 12-liter V3,5 engine with 320 HP, very advanced and powerful for the time designed by the brilliant engineer Giotto Bizzarini and a chassis and structure designed by the young Giampaolo Dallara. The 350 GT was not only surprising in the mechanical section, as its avant-garde body made of aluminum was created at Carrozzeria Touring in Milan.
Shortly after, Lamborghini began offering the 400 GT, an improved version of its first car with the engine displacement now increased to 4 liters. So that, With the 350 GT, the dynasty of the legendary Lamborghini V12 was born, with this original engine being manufactured for almost forty years, and which would revolutionize the world of sports cars with the Miura in 1966. . For all these reasons, and because it is difficult to get it right the first time in the automotive industry, Lamborghini has paid tribute to the car that started its history sixty years ago; six decades with which they have changed the world by introducing one legendary model after another.
