Immersed as we are in it BMW centenary and other more significant ephemeris, you may not have realized that el Lancia Gamma meets 40 years. Yes, it is the latest model designed by a more or less independent Lancia that celebrated its anniversary in the surroundings of Turin with the concentration Gamma Quarantine.
Nothing more and nothing less than 32 Gammas from all over Europe -24 coupés and 8 saloons- returned home to meet again, take a walk and, in addition, visit two major museums: the Carlo Biscaretti di Ruffia Automobile Museum and the Pininfarina Museum. In the latter they had the opportunity to meet Aldo Brovarone, historic Pininfarina -he worked there between 1952 and 1988- and designer of the Gamma and the occasional macchina such as -Ferrari- Dino 206.
Lancia Gamma: Redemption at Forty
The reliability of the Lancia Gamma… is somewhat controversial. Its elegant lines, especially those of the Coupé, are beyond doubt but its engine it has traditionally been vilified. However, the reality is that none of the attending cars nor of their 4 aluminum boxer cylinders broke down, and that the Spanish participants traveled more than 3.000 kilometers without the slightest problem. A hooray for a classic that seems to redeem itself over time, especially if it is well cared for.
Anyway, we hope that this representative of the almost extinct Lancia and Pininfarina will be preserved as well as until now for at least another 40 years. Congratulations! : )
