VII Contest of Elegance of Madrid

On September 13 and 14, the VII Madrid Elegance Contest of vintage vehicles in a place full of "glamor": the equestrian track of the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid.

In the words of its organizer, Pedro Pablo Gallardo (secretary of the Spanish Association of Sports Classics and treasurer of the Alfa Romeo Club), it is an annual event, attended by cars from all over Spain, Europe, and even Australia, such as this time. These types of meetings, which are usually altruistic in nature, are very popular in almost all capitals of the world, where participants also tend to dress according to the time of their vehicle.

Cars from all eras are on display, from 1890 to those that are at least 25 years old, divided into various classes such as Prewar, Postwar and Classic. A technical jury is in charge of reviewing the technical part, the design, the restoration that has been carried out on the vehicle and that everything is original. The main criteria for a car to enter the contest are basically that it is well preserved (something very difficult to achieve in older ones), or that it is very well restored.

Added values to compete are that the car is unique or that there are few units. The prizes are always symbolic, since the main purpose of the event is to show off the vehicles and share a few days of coexistence between the participants and the public.

On this occasion, the cars that have attracted the most attention have been a Sumbean from the year 29 that raced at Le Mans; two Pegasus of the few that remain in the world, and an Isotta Franchini arrived from Malaga.

The contest has also been accompanied by the “We Solidario” Charity Festival, which has included a market for charitable foundations, musical performances, snacks or a buffet to eat. Everything has contributed to living a pleasant family atmosphere and camaraderie during the weekend.

Out of competition and on display, other modern and classic cars have been admired, including the Alfa Romeo 4C "Launch Edition" from the vice president of the Alfa Romeo Club, Mr. Manuel Luque, or vehicles from the Repsol Classic teams, Amazon Sport … And even of ourselves!
