Video Chronicle: Retromobile Paris

As you know, at the beginning of the month we were at Retromòbile, the vintage car show in Paris. From the beginning we went with the intention of bringing the fair home, to record it on video in the most complete way possible so that we could show it to you. Then on the other hand, there was the magnificent monographic exhibition Pegaso about which Mario Laguna already wrote in detail last week.

It was a fascinating experience, although the truth is that we returned with mixed feelings; We visited paradise - a European event of this nature brings together the best of the best in automotive history - but we realized that everything was too expensive.

More and more Retromòbile is becoming a large market where not amateurs, but rather investors, carry out their operations. Nowadays, certain old vehicles have become investment goods in the short and medium term - a modality also known as speculation - to be jealously guarded in their garages until new sale.

Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, Maserati, Aston-Martin, Alfa-Romeo, Lancia, Jaguar ... are just some of the brands whose most attractive models have risen radically in price affected by the so-called "classic bubble."

Fundamentally, these were the cars we could see in Retromòbile along with others already excellent such as Bugatti, Delage, Delahaye or Rolls-Royce. A veritable museum in which the enthusiastic owners of a popular classic had much to see but little to buy.

Each fair has its audience and what are we going to do about it is the law of supply and demand. But one cannot help but think that the great automobiles of history are definitely out of reach of your pocket and that, meanwhile, many of their lucky owners do not enjoy them at all.

A shame that contrasts with the tremendous joy for the eyes that the images in Alejandro Rubio's video chronicle represent. Don't forget to activate HD and full screen modes!
