The house RK Motors Collector Car Auctions will auction the McLaren M26 used by James Hunt during the 1 Formula 1977 season. This legendary racing car will be the main protagonist of the auction, which is taking place right now in Charlotte (USA) and will end on November 3.
1976 was undoubtedly one of the most dramatic and exciting Formula 1 seasons of all time. The two drivers involved in the championship battle, James Hunt and Niki Lauda, as told in the movie rush, they fought an unforgettable fight. But nevertheless, this is not the M23 model used then by the British team, but its successor, the M26, which ran between 1977 and 1978 and whose design was pulverized by the revolutionary Lotus 79 introduced in that last year.
The M26, which in its time was never a winning but competitive car, unlike its predecessor, is powered by a ninety-degree Ford Cosworth DFV V8 engine that delivers 525 horsepower at 10.600 RPM and is caged in a chassis of aluminum.
