FIVA is pleased to announce that UNESCO has officially endorsed the "Automotive World Heritage Year", which means that the Organization morally supports this exceptional program of FIVA.
The Director-General of UNESCO, Ms Irina Bokova, congratulated FIVA for this initiative to celebrate the Automotive World Heritage Year. By promoting the “active preservation” of historic vehicles, passing on their technology to future generations, Ms Bokova said that FIVA has contributed to strengthening the cultural value of this unique industrial heritage and to the intercultural development of trade among the 64 FIVA member countries.
He added that the activities celebrating the 50th anniversary of FIVA 2016 contribute to the social, cultural, scientific and technological development of mankind.

FIVA has planned a series of activities and initiatives to celebrate this Automotive World Heritage Year, many of which go beyond 2016. The culminating point of the program will take place in mid-November in Paris, the birthplace of FIVA, with the active support of the Federation.
