The oldest Porsche in the world

One of the protagonists of this story is named Luciano Rupolo and he is 70 years old. He is a car lover who throughout his life has had the opportunity to drive great specimens I bought when they were just old cars. Thus, he currently has one of the rare Bizzarrini 5300 GT Strada and a Ferrari 250 GTE in his garage, as well as a race-ready Chevrolet Corvette "Split Window", an Alfa Romeo 2600 Spyder or a Porsche 356.

Lately, Rupolo has been mentioned in different media, apart from his interesting collection, for the fact of having owned what is supposedly the oldest Porsche in the world. The subject has acquired a media dimension as a result of the magnificent video that the italian cultural magazine Local's Magazine broadcast a year ago; It is a very well done little report in which Rupolo shows us his collection as well as the ins and outs of his enormous hobby.

Going back to the oldest Porsche that is preserved, and in his own words, it is chassis 04. The collector explains that chassis 01 and 02 have been lost -or are lost-, and that number 03 mounted a special body that delayed its registration for one year, so the road trip for 04 is prior to this one.

He found the 1948 car in a garage in Italy, bought it, and left it in a corner for a decade. It wasn't until he saw another similar model in the German manufacturer's museum that he understood how special it was. After years and a lot of money invested in its restoration, personal problems forced him to sell it to an anonymous buyer, but not before receiving a communication from Wolfgang Porsche himself to get it.

However, the history of Porsche is complicated ... and it is difficult to determine which is the oldest preserved unit. That is precisely why we show you this other audiovisual work, of an official nature, in which you can see what is generally considered to be the dean of the German house, the 356 Gmünd number 50. It is owned by the fan and pilot Jeff Zwart, character al which is undoubtedly also worth listening to and which reveals the ins and outs of this beautiful machine.
