Between September 17 and 21, 1975, the "Rallye del Sherry" in Jerez de la Frontera. In the first section, the pilot Beny Fernandez, at the controls of the famous Alpinche de Reverter, suffered a spectacular accident that destroyed the car.

Since then 40 years have passed, and the famous alpinche Since then it has been in a state of abandonment and practically scrapped, even with the injuries caused by that blow. However, having reached this "round" date, the Estanislao Reverter Foundation de Ourense has set out to bring this legendary racing vehicle back to life.

To the rescue of a winning combination

The "invention" consisted of an Alpine A110 of those manufactured in Valladolid by FASA-Renault, modified with the engine and other mechanical elements from a Porsche 911R, since the latter had suffered an accident that had destroyed its bodywork.

The author of the transplant and its successive improvements was the well-known Galician driver Estanislao Reverter, and it was he himself who achieved countless victories at the wheel of his invention in the Spanish National Rally Championship and even in the European Championship.

Now, the foundation that bears his name has wanted to remember the 40th anniversary of his last career with a beautiful proposal: a "charity" auction that raises funds for the restoration of the Alpinche, whose remains are already in the specialized workshop "Marvick Sport" in Ourense.

The idea is to return the car to the state it presented in its second evolution of 1974, that is, with the original front of the Alpine but with a spoiler that runs all the way down from bullet to bullet, a modification that was carried out after an accident and because it seems that more grip was needed on the front axle.

The pilots pitch their shoulders

To carry out this project we have had the invaluable collaboration of no less than 36 Spanish professional pilots -current and old glories- who have donated helmets, steering wheels or overalls for the auction that will take place on Ebay between June 8 and 18.

The list of collaborating pilots is truly overwhelming, including names such as Salvador Serviá, Dani Sordo, Juan Fernández, Chus Puras, Carlos Sáinz, Salvador Cañellas or Jaime Alguersuari, to name just a few. If you want to see the complete list of objects and pilots we encourage you to visit the foundation's website.

Without a doubt, it is a great way, for any rally fan, to be able to acquire objects from authentic legends of national motorsports, and also collaborating with the restoration of a unique vehicle created in our country.
