Serious accident in London-Brighton

We have already talked on other occasions of this ancient rally, initially held in 1896 and which commemorates the emancipation of the automobile against British law that required that they not circulate at more than 4 miles per hour and that they were always preceded by a person on foot. Currently, in its Revival -which has been held since 1927! - pioneering classics participate traveling from London to the seaside town of Brighton on a road that is usually quite congested.

This traffic is considerably reduced during the rally but even so, year after year, there is an excess of modern vehicles circulating through it as well as fans who, in their eagerness to accompany the participating vehicles with more modern classics, which usually to do is rather to hinder his progress.

Unfortunately, in this year's edition held last weekend there was 1902 Benz crash which lost control and hit a modern Ford C-Max head-on. The result, 6 people injured, of which two suffer serious injuries and the other four mildly; as well as a true completely shattered relic.

The organizer of the rally, the Royal Automobile Club, he acknowledges that he may need to learn lessons from what happened. Without a doubt, this accident should remind the rest of the fans that any precaution is little, both to ensure our safety and not to put at risk (not with our behavior) the necessary permits to hold the tests dedicated to old vehicles. Accidents do happen, it is true, but when they do, do not say that it was because we have relaxed.

From 'The Escudería' we hope the injured recover as soon as possible.
