Navacerrada monthly meeting

Last Saturday I received a message from Antonio Silva inviting me to come by the monthly car meeting and the occasional motorcycle over thirty years old held in Navacerrada. Although I was half an hour long away, I did not think much about it and decided to cheer up, since I had heard rave reviews about it from the appointment of this municipality located in the mountains of Madrid.

As he was going, his thing was to get in tune with the environment, so the next day I got up early and walked my steps to the garage where we kept the family mount, a Lancia Gamma Coupe 1979. But the morning started badly, the drums were melted and I had no chance of resurrection, as I soon discovered; also, someone had told me that it was better to get to the mountains early because otherwise it would be difficult to park ...

It hurt to stay home, but it was already 11:45 am and the cars would "fly" out of the central Plaza de Navacerrada around two in the afternoon. After evaluating the possibility of going for nothing, I decided definitely to go ahead with one of those modern appliances in which we move every day. I reached my destination from Mostoles in about 45 minutes, and in the end, I had no problem finding parking. Please bear in mind, yes, that it was the May bridge.

An excuse to go up to the mountains

More spirited, I finally began to navigate among the vintage vehicles, and the first thing I noticed was the shortage of popular classics compared to other meetings. As you can see in the photos in the image gallery, there were, but, at least in this edition, the meeting was more frequented by the rest of the national automobile historical heritage.

Heavy-gauge Mercedes, Jaguar E, a rare Armstrong Siddeley, Packard 120, Cord 810, BMW 3.0, Renault-Alpine, Porsche 911, Alfa Romeo Giulia GT, a pair of Volvos P1800, or a gorgeous Opel Manta was the kind of material that was seen there, the majority in good condition as far as originality is concerned.

Regarding quantity, I'd say there were about fifty cars So we can say that it is a small but cozy meeting, especially if we take into account the beauty of the square where it is held, the mountains that it has as a backdrop and the restaurants that are in the surroundings. Without a doubt, it is an excellent excuse to spend a day in the mountains of Madrid and enjoy the fans.

Finally, I would like to point out that, if I'm not mistaken, the space in the square is limited and that last weekend it was almost full; Also, that you have to park your cars correctly - online, not on battery - before two in the afternoon under penalty of a possible fine. I experienced the latter in my own flesh when I went to move a friend's Giulia and, in all fairness, I will say that a charming policeman told me that he decided not to prescribe the dreaded "recipe."

DIFFERENT CHARACTERS, SAME FUNCTION

Little by little spontaneous meetings and markets are emerging in different parts of the national geography. Only in Madrid, together with the Navacerrada meeting, other activities of this type are held in Villaviciosa de Odón, Navalcarnero, Alcalá de Henares or Torrejón de Ardoz, among other locations. Each one with its character, its rules and its audience and in which, in general and if you want, good conversation can be found.

Even institutions beforehand reluctant to this type of thing they are being encouraged to host meetings of enthusiasts in their facilities wanting to exchange impressions, as is the case of the ITV of the IDV chain located in the "El Carralero" industrial estate in Majadahonda. Little by little we will go to each of them to make the corresponding chronicle but, for the moment, and if you want more information about it, I invite you to visit our Events calendar.
