  • Hispano Suiza, the historic Spanish brand of luxury and competition vehicles, will star in the Elegance Contest, an event in which eight exclusive units will participate.
  • The Hall will bring together more than 175 exhibitors and will develop a program of activities with exhibitions, tributes and presentations

More than 175 exhibitors will attend the 2022 edition of ClassicMadrid, which will be held from February 25 to 27 in the Crystal pavilion of the Casa de Campo in the capital. The enthusiasm of companies and professionals to meet again in such an emblematic event for the sector has made it possible to market the entire exhibition space.

The International Classic Vehicle Show will be attended by some of the main national classic car and motorcycle restoration companies, such as Cars Clásicos, Coupe-Pueche, Juan Lumbreras, Retrosport, Amazon Sport, Classic Cars 50 to 80, Stttoon Automotive, Retrocycle Motos Antiguas HD, MG Classic Motorcycles, Luis Motorcycles, Enric Casanovas Motor Bike, or Iván Cirre Collection Motorcycles, as well as the most outstanding spare parts of the Spanish market and from other European countries. On the three floors of the emblematic pavilion, products from manufacturers, restorers, collectors, accessories, spare parts, publications, complements, insurance, textiles, vintage products, etc. will be marketed.

This long-awaited ClassicMadrid, which arrives at its traditional appointment after the paralysis of the fair that was triggered by the covid-19 pandemic, will have a luxury exhibition proposal that will have its icing on the cake with the Elegance Contest, which in this edition is dedicated to the Spanish brand Hispano Suiza, a manufacturer that in the first decades of the XNUMXth century dazzled kings, millionaires and artists.

At least eight exclusive Hispano Suiza cars will participate in this edition of the Contest of Elegance. Luxury and competition were two of the main characteristics of this automobile firm created in Barcelona in 1904 by the businessman Damià Mateu and the Swiss engineer Marc Birkigt, and these will be the axes on which the event will revolve this year. Among the automotive proposals in competition we can admire an emblematic 1927 model manufactured on the Hispano Suiza H6 base and bodied by the North Americans Hibbard&Darrin and a no less spectacular type 30 Sport from 1924, manufactured by the brand for the competition and known as “Rabassada”, in memory of this mythical Catalan sporting event in which it participated.

Eight will also be the automobile units that the Seat en Rodaje exhibition shows and that belong to the largest private collector of the Martorell firm, Jaime Sánchez. This exhibition will host three Seat models in the purest beach style: a Mallorca, an unknown Seat Ibiza Cabrio, of which only 5 units were manufactured by Indar, and the prototype and first unit manufactured of the Seat Samba. It will have two Ronda units, the model that saved Seat in its crisis in the early 80s; with a Seat 132 ambulance, bodied by Bergadana and fully equipped; a 600 Seat 1957 with chassis number 000.064, perhaps the oldest surviving; and a Seat Toledo Podium, of which only 23 units were manufactured, each one destined for the 23 Spanish medalists of the 92 Barcelona Olympics.

The classic motorcycle will have a prominent role not only at a commercial level, as we have already mentioned with the presence of a significant number of companies and professionals on two wheels, but also with the celebration of the Restoration Contestn, in which motorcycles of any category and manufacturing origin, which have been marketed until 1980, can participate. This event, open to the participation of all collectors and fans, is structured around four decades (until 1950, 1950- 60, 1960-70 and 1970-80) and the best restored motorcycles belonging to these four periods will be awarded.

ClassicMadrid 2022 will remember the legendary Repsol team that shone in rallies and circuits between the years 1969-1972 of the last century. The feats of this private competition team, one of the first of a professional nature in Spain, will be remembered in an act in which its drivers Eladio Doncel and José Manuel Lencina and two of their co-drivers, Antonio Mantecón and Ricardo Muñoz will participate. The Repsol spirit was reborn in 2008 with the creation of the Repsol Classic Team, which competed in historic rallies and whose vehicles we can admire at an exhibition.

In this 2022 it will be 50 years since the arrival on the automobile market of the Renault 5, a versatile and accessible car, which is an icon of the French firm of the diamond. We will celebrate it with the manufacturer brand that sponsors a retrospective exhibition in which we can see the evolution of this utility that circulated on the roads of the whole world and that was manufactured between 1972 and 1984.

The passion for the motor is reflected in much of the work of the painter Juan Carlos Ferrigno, who will exhibit a selection of his paintings in this edition of the International Classic Vehicle Show. Ferrigno is the author of an extensive work that has been exhibited in the paddock of the F1 circuits in Italy, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Monaco and England. The artist will also present his first book, 'Anecdotas Carrerosas' at ClassicMadrid, a volume in which he collects his experiences in the “Great Circus”.

The program of activities for this edition of the Fair is completed with the presentations of the Spain Classic Raid, which will be held from March 26 to April 2 and will travel more than 2.300 kilometers through the Spanish geography; and the Historic Endurance 2022, which will take place on circuits in Spain, Portugal, France and Belgium. The Show will also be the destination of the ClassicMadrid Tour, organized by Automovilia Cars Events and the magazine Motor Clásico.

The Hall of Classics also has the Car Garage space, an area for buying and selling classic vehicles between individuals that allows fans to carry out transactions to boost their private collections.
