The German Automobile Museum Prototyp has created the exhibition Porsche 356 VIP - Very Important Porsches to take a tour through the life of the successful first model of the German brand.
More than 76.000 units in three variants until 1965 and now, fifty years later, the Prototyp wants to present an exquisite selection that ranges from the oldest versions to the racing specials used in the 60s.
El Porsche 356 It was the first vehicle that Porsche produced in series, although it began by being assembled by hand. He was also the first to enter competition - often at the hands of private pilots - after the incredible sporting adventures of Ferdinand Porsche in Self-Union.
Two exceptional pieces
There are two cars that are very little seen and that we can enjoy in the exhibition Porsche 356 VIP - Very Important Porsches: The oldest, from 1949, is one of the variants known as Gmuend that they were born in Austria and that you can admire in the photo below; and one of the legendary Roadster America, whose around 20 units produced were sold almost entirely in the USA at the beginning of the 50s and which was the predecessor of the mythical Speedster.
And is that the Porsche 356 they began their production in Austrian lands, after the liberation of the allied prisons of Dr. Porsche once World War II had been won. In the small town of Gmund, In a shed and together with his son Ferry, Porsche created a legendary brand from parts licensed by Volkswagen.
Exhibition 356 VIP - Very Important Porsches will remain until March 27th 2016 at the Automuseum Prototyp in Hamburg (Germany).
