Since its last two editions, Justin Lapriore has been making a short film summary of the Amelia Island Contest of Elegance, held in Florida. In my opinion, last year It wasn't a big deal, even though it showed the biggest Ferrari 250 GTO's trailer I've ever seen; but this one is worth it. Without being impressive, it can be seen well, while it shows us Ford GT40's and Porsche 911's galore (on the occasion of their respective anniversaries), Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Duesenbergs or Chevrolet Corvette's. There is also the occasional motorcycle, although in a testimonial way.
It is the type of "material" that for almost twenty years can be found in what is probably, along with the Pebble Beach (California) pageant, the best elegance competition in the United States. It is held on the second weekend of March and, according to its organizers, it is a non-profit event with an important social purpose, since part of the proceeds go to various charity organizations. Regarding its program, although the main activity is to gather and "judge" 300 of the best cars in history, it also hosts talks and seminars, auctions, automobiles and vintage fashion.
Of course, if you live nearby or are lucky enough to travel to Florida on the designated dates, it is something not to be missed. How much will admission to one of the world's best vintage vehicle outdoor exhibitions be worth? On Monday I will ask without fail.
