New movie about Le Mans

Tom Cruise to star in Go Like Hell, a historic motorsport film directed by Joseph Kosinsky.

The film is based on the book Go Like Hell: Ford, Ferrari and Their Battle for Speed and Glory at Le Mans, written by AJ Baime and published in 2009. It recounts the rivalry that took place in the sixties between the Ford team and the Italian team Ferrari, which reached its peak in the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The book focuses on how Henry Ford II, after breaking down negotiations in his attempt to buy Ferrari, decides to build the ultimate racing machine for the sports car categories. Starting from the foundations of Lola and Aston Martin, Eric Broadley, John Weir and Roy Lunn designed the GT40, a car capable of competing and even beating Ferrari on its own ground.

They wouldn't get it until Carroll Shelby got it ready, winning three consecutive Le Mans - between 1966 and 1968 - and clinching several world championships of its kind.

The film is in its early stages of development and the script is likely to be revised to suit the styles of Cruise and Kosinski. The novel on which it is based only covers until the 1966 season.

With the good feelings that Rush left us still present, we crossed our fingers, hoping that this new production manages to capture the essence of Le Mans as well as the film of the seventies did. by Steve McQueen.
