Add on and on: MotorLand Classic Festival and AutoClassic

In the extensive facilities of the Motorland Aragón circuit, 6 km from Alcañiz, various activities were held from October 24 to 26.

Among them, the 21st Autoclassic Salon and the 5th Motorland Classic Festival. And in addition to various exhibitions, a regularity rally, as well as classic car races on asphalt and dirt tracks.

After twenty editions of the AutoClassic show in Alcañiz, this year it was time to move. Thus, instead of the traditional exhibition pavilion of the Bajo Aragonese capital, the event brought together, according to the organization, 18.000 people within the modern Motorland Aragón circuit.

For this, the organization had the 40.000 square meters of the paddock, where there was ample space for everyone. And even a bumper car track and bouncy castles for young people and children.

While the eighty riders of the European Classic Series went out to the circuit in the different rounds, the first visitors on Friday arrived at the outdoor parking lot, free and with 7.000 spaces.

Likewise, those who came with their collection vehicle had free passage to the paddock. In fact, strolling to see classics would be a pleasure on Sunday morning.

Paddock of classics

Classics were already seen near the tent set up by the organization. And also the outdoor stands of some of the 81 exhibitors and of the clubs, among them the Aragonese Association of Friends of 600 which was turning 20 years old.

Without going through the box office, fans and first-time visitors could see the classic BMW Ms on display, or the Ford Mustangs celebrating the famous model's 50th anniversary.

As we progressed through the paddock, we came across the exhibition dedicated to American cars from the '50s and' 60s. Located in the free pits, the voluptuous Chevrolet and Cadillac had power of attraction for the public.

At the same time, the participants in the Motorland Classic Festival Regularity Rally. Organized by the Classic Motorclub del Bages, it lasted two days and had 41 registered teams.

Meanwhile, more elderly vehicles were arriving at the paddock, to the delight of the enthusiasts who moved through the area.

Instead, the largest accumulation of people occurred in the AutoClassic tent. Both fans in search of spare parts and accessories, as families who went from surprise to surprise and bought a keychain from their favorite brand.

For sale at AutoClassic

In this enclosure there were also some vehicles for sale. For example, an unusual Mini 850 from 1962, made in England and for which its owner asked € 8.500.

And of course, restored classic bikes along with older ones, quite whole but covered in rust.

At the same time, in some outdoor tents and in ten boxes, the sellers of classic and old cars had their space reserved. Among them, two Ford Ts manufactured respectively in 1916 and 1924, one with a roadster body and the other with a Tudor type.

Altogether, about thirty cars, including a superb Rolls-Royce Corniche. But also a Renault 4/4 and a Volkswagen Beetle as more affordable models, or a gleaming Citroën DS 19 from 1966 at the Cars 1247 booth.

However, sales were in favor of the youngtimers, with a change of ownership in a 944 Porsche 1985 Turbo, a 1980 Mercury Cougar and a 1984 Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet.

Along the same lines, a Lancia Thema Ferrari and a replica of AC Cobra caused a sensation. And whoever wanted one of the few remaining Alpine A-110 1400s, had at the Importauto stand a good looking 1977 specimen.

Guadalope, in memory

The public also moved inside the central building of MotorLand Aragón, where there were exhibitions dedicated to old racing bicycles, Superbikes or vintage car radios.

On Sunday noon the Motorland Classic Parade took place. In it, more than a hundred vehicles traveled the circuit at reduced speed, in an act that was fun for the participants, judging by their happy faces.

Finally, that same afternoon, the commemoration of the old urban circuit of Guadalope. An act in memory of those years and that highlights the intense love of motoring that has distinguished the city of Alcañiz ever since.
