Book: «The manuscripts of Domingo Anguera»

With the times that run, initiatives such as the presentation - or "re-presentation" - of books like this one are worth celebrating. And it is even more admirable because it has been a project with no greater intention than to disclose some valuable unknown documents about our most prestigious automotive brand -with Pegaso's forgiveness-, Hispano Suiza.

At past Teresa Herrera rally This book was already presented, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Coruña Veteran Car Club, giving a copy to each participant. And it has been forged with the participation of several "Galician factors": The Jorge Jové Foundation, the aforementioned club from A Coruña and Manuel Lage, author of the work and also of northern descent, all of them with the collaboration of the Spanish Vehicle Federation Ancient (FEVA).

The book itself is so much an editorial novelty as a novelty in concept, Well, few times to date –if it has ever been done- has a work of these characteristics been published in our country, of pure documentary “archeology”.

First hand

The work is based on some manuscripts by Domingo Anguera, who in the 60s was the oldest worker of the Enasa already then, as he had entered the Hispano Suiza factory in 1913 as an apprentice.

These writings were made in the 50s at the request of Luis Massuger, director of Hispano Suiza in France, on the occasion of the creation of his book "Marc Brikigt and his work", also unpublished until its inclusion in this work.

Furthermore, the second half of Lage's book is dedicated to facsimiles of Anguera's original writings, as well as to some small plans and drawings in his own handwriting, or various passages where the protagonist tells from within social aspects of different times.

Deeply

At Lóleo Eventos, last edition of the Auto Retro Barcelona show, Specifically on Saturday, December 6, it was presented again with the appearance of several specialists on the subject and even with a live performance of the “Himno de la Hispano-Suiza”, a small unpublished work that appeared among the documents of Mr. Anguera … And that could also be heard at the Teresa Herrera Rally.

Ultimately, a tasty new volume on our "great" brand, though it may be intended for true geeks of the subject, since it hardly has graphic material that complements the text. Regarding the rest of the details of the edition, just say that it is a hardcover binding of around 30 × 22 centimeters (length by width), and that it contains 303 pages of good weight paper.

My name is Francisco Carrión and I was born in Ciudad Real in 1988, a place that was not at first akin to vintage cars. Fortunately my grandfather, dedicated to the automotive sector, had friends who owned veteran cars and participated in the annual rally that was held (and continues to be held) in my hometown ...
