Rod Stewart's Lamborghini Miura

It is true, the price of classic sports cars is skyrocketing in recent years and the case of Lamborghini Miura It is no exception. Rod Stewart, the famous British singer, bought new this splendid blue Miura P400 S (the specific color of this unit is called Blu Notte) back in 1971, at the official Lamborghini dealership on Alie Street, London.

This version, of which only 140 units existed (in total they left the Sant'Agata 764 Miuras factory), it was an improvement over the original supercar, which appeared in 1968, and had increased power. Its 12-liter V3.9 now generated 370 hp and also had a somewhat stiffer chassis than the initial version.

The thing is, the rock legend decided to get rid of the car later, making this precious specimen (one of the very few right-hand drive ever built) to go through four other hands until 1990, which was when its new owner decided to convert it to the specifications of the Lamborghini Miura SV. Thus, it mounted a limited-slip differential, its rear track was widened, it became even more hardened (since the Miura always sinned, among other things, of raising its nose too much at high speeds) and its propeller went on to deliver 385 hp.

Its price rises, rises and rises ...

This iconic sports car was one of the first "supercars" of the time… Not to say that it was the first of its kind, with a mid-engine, and many artists and personalities have driven or drive one. Among them was Frank Sinatra, who once stated: «who wants to be someone buys a Ferrari. Who is already someone drives a Lamborghini«. The crazy for cars, JK by JamiroquaiIt is also one of its owners, including the already named Stewart or even the actor Nicolas Cage, who in 1997 bought an exclusive SVJ unit at a Brooks house auction for about 440.000 euros.

Just to give you an idea, this same unit that concerns us here was sold by RM Auctions last year for 521.000 euros; and now, with his odometer marking a little more than 46.000 kilometers the house Amari SuperCars (yes, after 90.000 euros have been invested in it in a complete restoration) ask for it at this eBay listing the not inconsiderable figure of almost € 1,7 billions. Is it or is it not to think about it?

We leave you with the mythical intro from the original 'The Italian Job' movie, with its epiphanic soundtrack by Matt Monro… For you to watch as you keep spinning his head:

Being a millionaire and buying all the cars in the world sounded difficult, so becoming a motorist journalist and driving them for free seemed more tangible ... As well as romantic. My greatest triumph has been being able to dedicate myself to cars from many points of view: journalism, organization of events and commercial training. I love my work life!
