A 1961 Jaguar E-Type Coupé is resurrected

When we see a skein of rusted iron in an old French farm that has served as a home for an entire family of birds, it is difficult to imagine that it could be part of one of the first Jaguar E Type, specifically one of those that were exhibited at the Scottish Motor Show in 1961.

The Jaguar E-Type caused a worldwide sensation, especially in its original convertible and coupe versions. The iconic bodywork owes its forms to the extensive notions in aerodynamics and aeronautics of its designer, the famous Malcolm Sayer.

The initial mechanics of E Type it was the mythical XK engine six-cylinder with cast iron block and aluminum cylinder head which, powered by three carburettors, allowed acceleration from 0 to 100 in less than 7 seconds and a top speed of 240 km / h. State-of-the-art disc brakes from the multi-time Le Mans-winning D-Type could bring it to a stop in record time.

The restoration of this early Jaguar E-Type unit has required an investment of more than 3000 hours of work. In view of the result, we could say that each and every one of them has been worth it ...

The restoration has been carried out by the English restoration workshop Classic Motor Cars, which exposed it last weekend at the London Classic Car Show.
