Interclassics & Topmobiel 2015

To the most important classic car show in the Netherlands, Interclassics and Topmobile, It is his turn each year to initiate hostilities.

This edition was held in the city of Maastricht from January 8 to 11, 2015, with its customary good selection of classics and magnificent setting of the stands by national merchants and the very numerous arrivals from other countries.

When the first in the annual calendar arrives, the Maastricht show is closely watched as it will indicate whether the trends of the latest shows held at the end of the previous year will be consolidated or not in the season that is starting. In that sense, in terms of prices and quality of the merchandise on offer, the trend for 2015 not only is it consolidated, but it is revised upwards. There is also a diversification of the offer, incorporating models with appreciation capacity that previously were somewhat cornered.

Market Trends

Some makes and models are reaching prohibitive ceilings (such as the Ferrari 275, Ferrari Daytona, Ferrari Dino 246, Aston Martin DB5, Lamborghini Miura, etc.), which has the effect of directing the market towards models that still have relatively affordable prices. , such as the Ferrari Testarossa or the BB (Berlineta Boxer), the Lamborghini Espada, Maserati Indy, various Lancia or Alfa Romeo models and a long etcetera in which there is still some room for maneuver both for merchants and individuals.

However, those undecided by some brands they shouldn't wait long before your favorite models fall into an unattainable segment, as is happening with almost all Porsche 911 and Jaguar E models.

The sale price of cars has the consequence that authentic scrap metal in which nobody before dared to undertake a restoration are now being restored because the finished product exceeds the cost of the works and materials used.

Jaguar 80th Anniversary

Jaguar fans discovered in Maastricht a luxurious, large and highly attractive exhibition in which there were representatives of all periods and modalities, both passenger cars and racing cars.

We will highlight the presence of the famous "NUB 120", by its registration number, having been the winning car of the "Alpine Cup", races held in the Rally of the Alps in 1950. The NUB 120 is one of the most famous Jaguar XK120 of all times.

However, nothing could compare in terms of historical significance to the victorious Jaguar D at the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1957. The car with the Ecurie Ecosse colors currently belongs to the Louwman Museum, from the Netherlands, who had given it up for the occasion.

Formula 1 cars

Formula 1 cars, in principle less usable than any other classics, attract the interest of many buyers and investors. Historical Formula 1 prices had remained relatively cheap, in relation to the technology developed, because they cannot be registered and cannot be used on the open road or for the transport of people, on rallies or simply on tourist trips as with classic touring cars.

The use of Formula 1 also requires a team of mechanics and their access is reserved for circuit tests. However, investors, precisely taking advantage of the relatively affordable prices, are focusing on the acquisition of single-seaters and there are upward trends in their prices.

As a representative of the creation of Formula 1 in 1950, a Ferrari by Alberto Ascari was exhibited and, from the previous period of the grand prix before the war, a Bugatti 35 from the San Sebastián Grand Prix of 1926 was of particular interest. Thus, a sculpture made with metal pieces from scrap yards representing a Fangio Mercedes-Benz attracted attention at the main entrance.

Independent exhibitors

As a complement to the thematic exhibitions, it is the independent exhibitors who bring the greatest diversity and attractions to the classic car shows for potential buyers, who thus have at their disposal a wide range of brands and models on display that they can compare with each other.

The offer of Porsche 911, Jaguar E, Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing, Ferrari 330 GT and GTS and Aston Martin in all its models was very abundant, but there was no shortage of exotic models, among which we will highlight a FIAT 110S, a unique model from 1955 , with mechanics improved by Marino and with participations in the Thousand Miles of 1955 and 1956, which will facilitate the access ticket to future editions of the historical Thousand Miles.

However, your potential buyer you must first reflect on the disbursement of 425.000,00 euros. Certainly respectable amount for a 4 cc 1.100-cylinder car. Not long ago those amounts were only possible when it came to mechanics so to speak more noble. But the market today seems not to be subject to rigid fees.

The Spanish presence is frankly non-existent at the Maastricht show, but this time an Alpine-Renault 1.300 cc was exhibited which, based on its rims, could be said to be a FASA model.

Curiosities

A 1966 Mercedes-Benz coupe with only 5.000 real km, unrestored, with original paint and untouched since leaving the factory can certainly be described as curiosity. The same as a Lincoln for sale with the shield of the President of the United States.

What do you think?
