III Rally 'Trade on Wheels'

The Dean Club of classic motorsport in Spain, the Veteran Car Club, held its traditional Rally of the Community of Madrid on October 1 and 2, renamed three years ago as 'Trade on Wheels'.

In this your third edition has had the help and collaboration of the Madrid Community Trade Board, which together with the Veteran Car Club presidency has been in charge of organizing a beautiful outing through some of the most representative places in our community.

The departure was made from the town of Boadilla del Monte, where the presentation ceremony was held. The authorities welcomed the participants and the local public, who in great numbers enjoyed and cheered the 22 participating vehicles.

Thus they left at around 12:00 in the morning, heading to El Escorial, passing through Villanueva del Pardillo, Zarzalejo ... and from there to a continuous ascent towards the pass of the Green Cross, a route that they all made from the oldest (Berliet Normandie 1917 ), to the most modern classics of the late 30s. Some accused the hot morning, but none fainted, all arriving at the Escorial at around 13:30 pm, where they were exposed for the public's enjoyment.

Again the prestigious brand Packard It was the largest, with 5 participants from 27 to 39. The solidity and elegance of these cars make them the favorites of many fans to go out for a walk. The most exclusive vehicle was the Aston Martin of the great Pepe Ruiz, which delighted us all with its plant and sound. Without forgetting of course the Ford A and B, Chevrolet, Rover, Jaguar, Buick, Lasalle ... Etc.

After a fun night in the town, and of course after the obligatory visit to the monastery, the vehicles left on Sunday for Colmenarejo where they were exposed again in the town hall square. The exit was concluded with a great meal in which the club recognized the dedicated participation of its youngest members, five promises between 3 and 9 years old, with the special badge of the Veteran Car Club of Spain. And it is that gentlemen readers, it is also the obligation of the clubs to try involve and teach to our little ones the love of our classics.
