II Contest of Elegance of Chantilly, a whole binge of classics

[dropcap] In [/ dropcap] Before diving into the writing of this article, I set out to avoid the language that has been called politically correct. Political correctness destroys creative freedom and the spontaneous use of common language, rich in ideas, colloquial and without premeditation that arose naturally and we used before the arrival of the last generation censors who spoke out against censorship when, in reality, they have no other objective than to impose it. One of the safest and most effective forms of censorship is to impose what is considered politically correct at all times.

The big bouffe is the title of a film directed by Marco Ferreri in 1973 in which Marcello Mastroniani, also called Marcello in the film, is an Alitalia pilot and has a nice Bugatti in a Paris garage.

I will not refer to the movie by him bugattis, which would seem appropriate when speaking of an elegance contest, but for the fact that the protagonists propose to die eating. In The big bouffe, that we could freely translate as La gran panzada, several friends lock themselves in a house so as not to go out if not with their feet first after eating until they burst.

The reader may be surprised by this presentation, but it is precisely what occurred to me when entering the gardens of the magnificent Château de Chantilly, a stone's throw from Roissy airport north of Paris: Would it be possible to die of a car binge?

If so, the perfectly chosen place would be the Chantilly Elegance Contest in which it is not known where to look or where to turn while the pieces that come out are devoured, whether it is the outdoor parking lot, the county roads and city streets that lead to the entrance of the palace or the elegance contest Properly said.

If i had to qualify Whipped Cream With a single word that everyone understood, he would use the word overdose. The visitor who walks through the gates after paying 45,00 euros (plus 10,00 euros for parking and 10,00 euros for the beautiful program with all the details about the day, categories and participants), is lighter in the portfolio 65,00 , XNUMX euros, but it begins to get bogged down I would say that not individually from cars separately, but by groups, by sets, by clouds of colored spots scattered in the large garden areas and preserved with the delicacy required by the consideration of the French national heritage .

The impression produced by the entrance to the Chantilly contest, either because of the unusual setting of an imposing fortified palace that originated in medieval military history from 1358 on, or because of the variety, quality and quantity of the cars that gather there to fight a bloodless war.

Château de Chantilly, a setting that is difficult to reject

Nothing or little of that medieval period remains in what is currently called the domain or property of Chantilly, which includes the palace itself, a moat and water pipes, gardens, stables and a racecourse. Regarding the stables, I do not know if that name would be the correct one since when approaching Chantilly, at a certain distance, it would not be possible to distinguish which is the palace intended for people and which one for horses.

To go quickly and abbreviated through the history of Chantilly, let us close this section by adding that in 1719 a Duke of Bourbon conceived the general urban planning of the set of buildings, incorporating the large stables. Finally, after wars and revolutions, the place is rebuilt, the art collections are arranged and the entire domain is bequeathed to the Institute of France.

A setting so imposing and rich in history had to attract the attention of patrick peter, who has a remarkable experience as an organizer of classic events, since he has to his credit the Tour Auto Optic 2000, Le Mans Classic o Classic Spa, just to name a few of them. Successfully crowning his project, Patrick Peter presented the second edition of his elegance contest held on September 6, 2015, which we will now summarize ...

The elegance contest itself was presented surrounded by many other activities that make it a social event suitable for adults and children with an excuse to spend a pleasant weekend in the prestigious setting of the Domaine de Chantilly, popularly known as we have indicated by its hippodrome, palace, park and prestigious stables, with the horse and ethnological museum included.

It is not surprising that the palace with all the surrounding domain has been permanently incorporated into the French heritage.

Some observers have pointed to the risk that exists when approximating motoring and equestrian activities, so that the packaging is more attractive than the contents. Not a risk that Chantilly has fallen into, with a roster worthy of any other fledgling elegance contest trying to make its way onto the international calendar.

However, when we speak of horses we generally do not speak of cars and when we speak of cars we do not speak of horses. During the Sunday of the contest horse activities are mixed with car activities and it would be logical to wonder if the same could happen in major horse racing events where racing cars were mixed. It seems unlikely to happen.

Not a few have suggested that the horses stay in the stables during the car elegance contest, but the triumph and the great popular reception by visitors seem to encourage the activities with horses to continue in the editions that follow. in the future.

Time will tell whether or not Chantilly can aspire to become the Villa d'Este of the north (even with the downside of equine shows). It seems like the goal of Patrick Peter ...
