TEXT AND PHOTOS: IBERIAN CLASSIC RAID

About a hundred classic cars They have crossed the Iberian Peninsula on dirt roads to enjoy the varied landscapes that it offers us, its gastronomy and the driving of vehicles with more than 25 years.

La strict regulations against COVID that the organization has imposed has allowed the test to be carried out with total safety, preventing the participation of some registered by testing positive in the mandatory preliminary tests, which have been carried out with the aim of safeguarding the safety of the rest of the participants.

Iberian Classic Raid, with anti-Covid measures

Due to these protocols it has not been possible to make stops in some towns where it was planned. Special mention deserves the Zaragoza municipality of Alborge, where the participants made a "Pit-stop" without getting out of the car to receive a selection of products from the area and an injection of energy as they crossed the streets to applause and shouts of encouragement.

Burgo de Osma, Mollerussa or Plasencia have been other cities that have actively collaborated with the raid, which has made stage goals in Lérida, Zaragoza, Madrid or Covilha and which had its departure at the Olympic Port of Barcelona.

Like the landscapes and the types of roads, the weather has been very varied, with the first part marked by high temperatures and dry terrain. With the arrival of the squall Barbara, from El Burgo de Osma the situation was very different and the mud added an extra point of difficulty when maintaining the average speed set by the organization in the controlled sections.

The purpose of conserving and having fun with classic cars that the Iberian Classic Raid transmits would not be possible without Bosch, the main sponsor of this event and collaborators such as Suzuki, the official car of the organization.

The raid organization does not want to miss the opportunity to offer your condolences to the family and friends of one of the participants that, after leaving the route to go to a nearby town to repair a breakdown in his vehicle, he was involved in an unfortunate accident that tragically ended his life.
