We travel for the first time to the immaculate grounds of the Goodwood House belonging to the Duke of Richmond & Gordon, the same one that organizes a Goodwood membership meeting in March and the well-known Goodwood Revival in September.
The Festival of Speed It is the great celebration of the world of motor sport, gathering in the weekend the best historical and modern competition cars, current stars and legends of past decades. 42 categories neither more nor less between museums, private collectors and brands strive to show their novelties or best pieces.
Goodwood Festival of Speed: Better, Impossible
Ex-professionals or current pilots take these mounts to the ascent of approximately one kilometer and eight hundred meters. The list of celebrities and myths is endless: Dario Franchitti, Juha Kankkunen, Miki Biasion, Petter Solberg, Tom Kristensen, Emanuele Pirro, Jochen Mass, Derek Bell, Arturo Merzario, Richard Attwood, Adrian Newey, Damon Hill, Sir Jackie Stewart, Emerson Fittipaldi, Takuma Sato, David Coulhard, Rubens Barrichello, Rene Arnoux, Lando Norris or our representatives Marc Gene and Carlos Sainz JR are just some examples.
Also rally cars
Another part of the event is the area for Rally cars, which can only be enjoyed in the start and finish section, since the road disappears in the lush forest and access to the public is not allowed, since the speeds reached they can put you in danger. Of course, the paddocks are completely accessible and in the immediate vicinity there are several screens where you can visually follow the routes of Group B and other wild machines.
Anniversaries, and other strengths
The themes and anniversaries of this edition have been Aston Martin, with its anniversary of the first victory at the Goodwood circuit 70 years ago; and the 50 years of the iconic Porsche 917. Likewise, a retrospective of the incomparable Michael Schumacher.
Two of the points that are hardly touched in reports and are worthy of praise are the Cartier Style & Deluxe elegance contest, which has a large bunch of participants worthy of the best contests such as Whipped Cream o Villa D'Este. And of course the monograph Bentley for its 100th anniversary, where you could see all kinds of bodies, even the Bentley Embiricos!
