These two very expensive Ferraris will save lives

In this Ferrari 250 GT SWB red and a Ferrari 275 GTB / 4 Gray. They are both true rolling legends of the automotive world and yes, both will save lives. And it is that these two classic jewels, valued at several million euros each, will be auctioned on October 14 by the house H&H thanks to the more than generous donation of the late Richard Colton. The proceeds from the two cars will go to the NGO RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) with which a respectable lifeboat will be built that will take the name of Richard and Caroline Colton, in tribute to this British businessman and his wife.

Colton, who was a sea enthusiast and hobbyist and collector of good cars, passed away this same year, in March, at the age of 82. He himself wanted to leave his two beloved relics preserved to perfection as a donation. The first one is a wonderful Ferrari 250 GT SWB 1960 red, of which only 167 units were made (10 of them right-hand drive for the UK). Yes, it is the forerunner of all-powerful and outrageously expensive Ferrari GTO 250 and it is described, it is already in view, as "One of the most beautiful cars in the world". This unit with registration "574 NOT" was purchased by Colton himself in 1970 and completed 96.500 km with it. Chassis number 1995 GT, estimated to reach a final auction value of more than 8 million.

It would seem less, but no

The second, the Ferrari 275 GTB / 4 gray, it is another treasure that you do not think is left behind for being something more modern; on the contrary. With registration "RCO 777" and chassis number 10177 GT, it is one of the 350 units manufactured by the Maranello company (27 copies arrived in Great Britain). Colton got hold of it in 1974 and drove it across Europe, as with the 250 GT, for approximately 125.500 kilometers. Its value even exceeds the previous one, since the last auctioned eponymous model hit the mace when it went for 9 million.

Thus, taking into account the 8 million of the 250 GT SWB, plus the 9 million of the 275 GTB / 4, we get some 17 million euros in total. And now is also when we remember the bubble that has been created around classic cars in recent years (of which the case of the Rod Stewart's Lamborghini Miura), So they could become even more!

It seems incredible… How expensive the boats seem to be, right?

What do you think?

Being a millionaire and buying all the cars in the world sounded difficult, so becoming a motorist journalist and driving them for free seemed more tangible ... As well as romantic. My greatest triumph has been being able to dedicate myself to cars from many points of view: journalism, organization of events and commercial training. I love my work life!
