The electric car, a year full of novelties

This year the big brands have jumped on the bandwagon of modernity and are betting on new models of electric cars that represent a sustainable alternative to fuel vehicles. Whether for ecological or economic reasons, switching to the electric car has a great number of advantages for drivers and for the planet.

Whether for ecological, economic or even design reasons, there are more and more electric cars circulating in our country. Although it is true that this type of car accounts for only about 1,9% of the total, it is undeniable that in recent years a revolution has been going on in the world of the automotive sector. Cities are implementing more and more points where it is possible to charge the electric car and there are even financial aid for those people who choose to leave their old car and buy a new electric vehicle. That the electric car is already a reality is demonstrated by specialized dealers such as Electromobility, a specialized dealership that was born with the aim of offering 100% electric vehicles at an affordable price and with a high level of service.

One of the main reasons why the use of electric cars and public transport is increasingly imposed compared to old vehicles is climate change and pollution. Diesel or gasoline cars generate a whole series of negative effects on the environment that not only have dire consequences for nature but also for our health. No matter how sustainable other types of private transport claim to be, only electric cars guarantee 0% CO2 emissions (Although the manufacture and disposal and recycling of batteries does have an environmental impact).

Another advantage of using an electric car is that they give fewer problems and therefore we will make fewer visits to the workshop. This is because they do not have a traditional engine or a gear change, so the chances of breakdowns are considerably reduced. We will also save on fuel and we will only have to worry about charging the car overnight while it is in the garage. It is estimated that the cost of this type of vehicle is about one euro per hundred kilometers, that is, nothing to do with the high figures for fuel.

Some of the electric car models that will hit the market in 2021.

All these benefits have led more and more drivers to switch to electric. A trend that is especially felt this coming year loaded with news in the sector. In 2021, electric cars will go on sale such as:

  • The Audi e-tron GT and the Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron. The first is one of the firm's big bets and has two versions: one with 350 horses and the other with 630. The Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron, meanwhile, is a smaller version that will have a range of up to 450 kilometers.

  • Citroen AMi. The French brand launches a small two-seater vehicle designed to move through urban environments, since it only reaches a speed of 45 kilometers per hour. The good thing is that its price is more affordable (less than 7.000 euros) and offers all the advantages of an electric car. In fact, its creators do not call it a "car" but a "mobility solution".

  • Dacia Spring. A large vehicle but at a good price, and it aspires to be the cheapest on the market. It has four seats, 44 horses and a 33 kWh battery. Like many other models of electric vehicles, the Dacia Spring is specially designed to move around the city and try to be a private alternative to public transport.

  • BMW iX: One of the big bets of this year. With 500 horses and a range of 600 kilometers, this BMW SUV has nothing to envy the power of the cars we are used to. The German manufacturer also launches other electric vehicles such as the BMW i4, with a range of 590 kilometers and a design reminiscent of a Gran Coupé.

  • Mercedes EQS. It is one of the most anticipated releases of the year due to its futuristic appearance. This is due to the large surface of screens that it incorporates along the dashboard, which goes from one side of the car to the other. In addition to this model, Mercedes also launches the Mercedes-Benz EQA, very similar to the GLA and with a price of around 50.000 euros.

  • XEV Yoyo. The Italian brand of electric cars XEV, presents the Yoyo. A perfect urban vehicle for daily commutes with its 150 km of autonomy and a design that will attract many looks.

As we can see, the big brands have jumped on the bandwagon of modernity and are betting on new models of electric cars that cover the same needs as previous fuel vehicles and that we can find both in dealerships and in autocasion. Many are also focused on offering sophisticated but affordable models, designed to circulate in urban environments and offer a sustainable alternative to public transport. In short, in the coming years we will see how the use of electric cars increases and becomes a reality that both the planet and our pockets will appreciate.
