ECCLYM: New miniature museum in Barcelona

PRESS RELEASE - Barcelona is preparing to see the birth of a new thematic museum within its wide range of collections and exhibitions. This new museum will open its doors in April 2015, in the heart of Barcelona's Eixample, thanks to the initiative of Marcello Cioli, an Italian historian who over the years has collected thousands of miniature cars at all scales, as well as classic vehicles and linked original historical elements, which will offer the world, from the Catalan capital, a sample of the history of the automobile of the last century.

Said museum responds to the name of ECCLYM, acronym for “Exhibition of Classic Cars and Miniatures”, which is moved to Barcelona from Treviso.

The works to condition this facility begin this month and will last about half a year. The headquarters of the same It is an old parking lot from the 50s, Now in disuse, which the promoter will recover respecting its original structure and appearance, filling its old walls with a vintage content that is not at odds with today, given that for the enjoyment and information of the viewer, new technologies will make it a model and very modern installation in terms of use.

A caring environment

The "ECCLYM Museum" will have two different parts, one for static and the other for dynamics, which will be renewed approximately every half year. In the first there will be showcases full of miniatures of great value, spaces simulating old scenarios always related to the automotive world, and all kinds of elements, posters and documentation from the 50s, 60s and 70s, including toys, that will make up a complete sample with pieces from America, Europe and Asia, distributed by themes and environments. The second part will always be dedicated to a specific monothematic argument.

All the details of the museum will be very careful and they will be consistent with the art of collecting. Prices will be popular and visitors will be able to purchase exclusive miniatures and decoration elements similar to those exhibited in the exhibition. Marcello Cioli has chosen Barcelona for its tourist potential, and for the respect and enthusiasm that the city and, by extension, Catalonia, has always shown for the automotive world.

A small sample of what will be this new space dedicated to the history of the automobile will be seen at Auto Retro Barcelona (December 4-8), where a reproduction of the fall of the Berlin Wall will be created, with all the German atmosphere at the end from the 80s.
