Club del Clásico, the classics on television

Among the growing supply of audiovisual content on historic motoring, everything related to Club del Clásico has caught our attention. An informative product where technical rigor is combined with historical contextualization to make historical vehicles something within everyone's reach. In fact, while the networks do not stop growing, they have also managed to be programmed on some fifty local television channels.

Historic automobile journalism is currently taking a major turn. And it is impossible to continue sticking exclusively to the written content. Not surprisingly, the fate of the times marks an increasingly visual treatment of information. In this way, from time to time we are witnessing a growing proliferation of audiovisual channels related to motor racing fans. Fact given especially on YouTube. Where options abound that oscillate between a greater treatment of the mechanics, the context, the technique or the simple aesthetic display of the corresponding model.

And it is not easy to achieve a formula in which the classics can be shown and explained to a general public without forgetting the necessary professional data. Thus the things, the videos of Classic Club try, in the words of their own leaders, give a treatment "for all". Mixing the mechanical and performance data necessary for the definition of every vehicle with its history, inserting the model within the commercial and social context that saw it born. A fairly encyclopedic perspective, allowing the enjoyment of those who already know without undermining the introduction of those who may become new fans.

Thus, Club del Clásico started just a few months ago with a panoply of videos in which model stories have been mixed with interviews with clubs and fans. A selection with a marked national flavor, thus capturing the interest of the closest public. In fact, far from being just another among the many initiatives tied to the Internet, Club del Clásico is already programmed on some fifty local television channels. Without a doubt an excellent idea. Since it allows the hobby for the historic vehicle to get out of the specific information circuits, meeting new general audiences who would never go on their own to search for content like this.

In addition, the production rate is quite high. In this way, during the last month we have already been able to enjoy monographs on the Citroën DS, the Renault 12 or the SEAT 1500 and 124. And that's not to mention a more than interesting thread that we hope will continue pulling: that of the prewar models. Inaugurated with the report on the Citroën C4 of 1928.

Finally, these approaches are finished off with a good selection of archive images. Which are interspersed with high-quality current shots. as well as with clear and pleasant narrative voices. Data that we greatly appreciate, since freshness should never be at odds with quality. With all this, we hope that this good start of Club del Clásico will only be the prologue for more interesting reports, making the leap to more and more television channels with the aim that historic motor racing also finds its place on the small screen. We will keep reporting.

Through the news from La Escudería, we will travel the winding roads of Maranello listening to the roar of the Italian V12; We will travel Route66 in search of the power of the great American engines; we will get lost in the narrow English lanes tracking the elegance of their sports cars; We will speed up the braking in the curves of the Monte Carlo Rally and we will even get dusty in a garage while rescuing lost jewels.
