Exhibitions or events dedicated to classic tractors are not very common in our country, and they are even less so in the center of a large city such as Madrid. This is why we were surprised - pleasantly - to find this small exhibition near Madrid's Atocha station.
Specifically, these old glories of the field were exhibited at the headquarters of the petrochemical company Repsol on the occasion of the “Repsol Agro” meeting, in which, in addition to discussing various economic and legislative aspects of the agri-food sector, it was used to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary that the multinational leads in this field.
To do this, the company contacted an association of conservators of old agricultural equipment - although we do not know specifically with which one - which agreed to lend a dozen tractors from the 50s.
Foreign prominence
Curiously, there were not the most typical Spanish-made tractors such as the Lanz, Ebro or Hanomag-Barreiros, the only Hispanic representative being the Fiat 211 C from the early 60s manufactured under license by Viasa in Zaragoza.
The rest were all of foreign production, the 1952 Allis Chalmers Type G with rear engine (made in the USA) and the tiny URSUS “Bambi” C10 from the 50s made in Poland stand out for their rarity.
More typical were the British Massey-Harris "Pony" 820 and BMB "President" STP, both with their side mowers and manufactured in the mid-50s. Finally, a legendary American Farmall "Cub" and a lightweight Allgaier "Baby" German closed this small exhibition that would not be bad for it to be repeated and increased in coming years, because so It only lasted from September 30 to October 1.
