A Fire Affects SEAT Historic Cars: Everyone is Safe

First of all ... Take it easy. Today's afternoon has been a rush of news and rumors ever since shortly before six a huge column of smoke could be seen from different parts of Barcelona. Its origin has been in the fire of the facilities SEAT Free Zone, just the enclosure where is the Warehouse A122, the one where the brand keeps its careful collection of classics. Fortunately none of the valuable classics - among which we find prototypes, perfectly restored icons and racing cars - have been affected. At this time all are safe from the flames, not having to regret any personal injury among the more than 200 workers who were on the premises.

However, the material damage is considerable pending a more serene recapitulation, since the fire has affected at least two of the buildings in the enclosure.

According to the first and confusing statements -as of writing these lines 13 fire crews continue to work in the Free Trade Zone- the flames would have originated in a work area with car bodies. Hence the fire has spread to the neighboring ship: the A122 with its almost 200 classics.

Seeing that it was impossible to stop the fire Several SEAT Zona Franca operators have started to take the cars out into the open air.  Thus they have been saved from a certain loss that many have had as real until moments before closing this chronicle.

Today could have been a sad day for one of the greatest automotive treasures in this country. However, thanks to the prompt intervention of Barcelona municipal firefighters and SEAT workers this fire is already under control.

We can continue to enjoy this complete and careful set that tells the story of the brand with which Spain was motorized.

Through the news from La Escudería, we will travel the winding roads of Maranello listening to the roar of the Italian V12; We will travel Route66 in search of the power of the great American engines; we will get lost in the narrow English lanes tracking the elegance of their sports cars; We will speed up the braking in the curves of the Monte Carlo Rally and we will even get dusty in a garage while rescuing lost jewels.
