Chronicle: 6 Hours Barcelona, new stage, same success

This weekend the Spirit of Montjuïc was celebrated in its new format, once again attracting a multitude of fans of the classics.

All the 6 Hours from Barcelona have taken over from the Spirit of Montjuïc with a new proposal in which resistance races were held that were held in the Magic Mountain of the city of Barcelona. There have been a total of nine races and a spectacular exhibition complemented by all the activities in the paddock.

We discussed the 10th edition of a festival which is, by its own merits, the most important of all those held in Spain. Two intense days, full of action on the track, where the classics have alternated with the most modern single-seaters and the Racer Cup cars. Of course, there were those who missed some more classic competition, something that the organization has surely taken good note of.

6 Hours of Barcelona Historical SEAT

In addition, the quality of entertainment for the whole family in the circuit's paddock has once been key. Always with Historic SEATs as fundamental support, because our brand once again deployed a tent in which they exhibited their anniversary models. Starting, how could it be otherwise, with the 1400, which this year celebrates its 70th anniversary, and continuing with the Toledo, 1500, Ibiza II or Córdoba WRC. As a finishing touch, the pedal cars that delight the little ones.

The Vintage Zone, with concentrations of classics, live music or different activities for the little ones, has created a great festive atmosphere in the paddock. This is one of the hallmarks of the event that has never been lost, as well as the chance to hit the track that the around 300 fans who came with their classic had.

The pole fell on the side of Christophe Laberty and Sebastien Mathieu, who were piloting a TVR Tuscan Challenge from 1989. The front row was completed by the trio of Dimitri and Boris Bouic and Gilles Boyer, with a Porsche 944 Turbo Cup. Less than a second separated the two best, maximum equality, with several cars behind also very close.

On Sunday the race organized by V de V Endurance VHC was held, which was extremely hard on the mechanics, as up to seven dropouts were counted. The test was dominated from the start by the Chateaux Sport Auto team with their 635 BMW 1979 CSi, who led all hours. MARTA GARCÍA, FROM DULCE

The Spanish pilot Marta Garcia completed an excellent weekend, getting on the podium in the three races that were held in the F1 Academy, a competition reserved for women. Nerea Martí, for her part, signed two sixth places and one seventh place. In the Regional Formula by Alpine, Lorenzo Fluxá was fourth in the first race and 11th in the second. In addition, the Racer Cup featured three races, two of which were won by Álvaro Vela Rivero and the third by Félix Aparicio Rodríguez.

We cannot finish this chronicle of the 6 Hours of Barcelona without talking about the wonderful exhibition tribute to endurance racing in the long-awaited Circuit de Montjuïc. An exhibition at the height of the most demanding palates, with up to four cars that competed in said tests, as well as objects and photographs that transported you to that time. The more than 100 images were a hymn to a time that definitely seems better to us than today.

How could it be otherwise, the Ford GT40 driven to victory by Paco Godia and Brian Muir in 1968 It has captured a lot of attention. In summary, an event that continues to show iron health and that has managed to reinvent itself to continue in the gap.

Throughout these almost two decades of my professional career, I have worked in all types of media, including magazines, radio, the web and television, always in formats and programs related to the engine. I am crazy about the classics, Formula 1 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
