PHOTOS AND TEXT RIDING: MUSTANG CLUB DE ESPAÑA
On May 3,4, 5 and XNUMX, the twelfth edition of the Mustang Ride was held by the Mustang Club of Spain. The rain played a leading role throughout the morning of Friday, while the attendees moved towards the hotel-base in Miranda of Ebro (Burgos). This did not affect the planned attendance, with almost all the cars arriving before lunch.
Were finally 30 club membership vehicles who attended the appointment, despite a last minute drop, with representatives of all generations of the model to date, less than the third.
Among the attendees, clear dominance of the last two generations with the classics of the first and second generation represented by fourteen units, almost half of the cars, with a wide representation of the 65 and 66 in its three bodies with two hardtop, two convertibles, the fastback being the most numerous with four units. A 67 fastback, both Shelby "tribute car”The 350 GT 66 and the 500 GT 67, a 69 Mach 1 fastback, a Mach 1 from 71 and a Mustang II in its hatchback body, completed the classics. The fourth generation was represented by a beautiful convertible and the rest divided between fifth and sixth generation Mustang and Shelby with a beautiful Super Snake and three 2019 Bullit in between, completing the total until they reached thirty.
On this occasion, we enjoyed the company of Victor piccione, Product and Competition Communication Manager of Ford Spain, an entity that has always unconditionally supported the celebration of this event, holding the entire meeting on the back of a Bullit 2019, a model of which, as already mentioned, there were three units in this Cabalgada, a real luxury.
We were also accompanied by Ignacio de Haro and Aarón Pérez from Periodismo del Motor who had the opportunity to experience the Ride from the inside aboard another of the Mustang Bullit.
Around four thirty in the afternoon the journey to Puras de Villafranca (Burgos) began, a small town with manganese mines located above Belorado, where it was arrived after less than an hour of travel through some beautiful places in the second half of the tour.
Sergio was waiting there, an expert guide and a great connoisseur of the area who received the group, showing three of the mines, conducting very educational experiments that enchanted everyone, narrating how their manganese was used to reinforce all the steel of the ill-fated Titanic and he described with solvency, the adventures and suffering of the people who worked there for more than 80 years, which made the more than two hours of guided tour fly by and everyone was delighted and pleasantly surprised at the same time.
Mustang Ride: Let's go for the 2nd day
On Saturday the 4th, it began with a clear morning and an almost photographic sky when the Mustangs caravan crowning the small mountain pass of La Ventilla, discovered an impressive landscape with the Sierra de la Demanda at the bottom of a huge valley, still with snow on several of its peaks, among them the spectacular San Lorenzo (2.600 m) above the town of Ezcaray, with a field on both sides of the road with lots of shades of green that invited us to travel and enjoy without losing detail. Thus the whole group approached Santo Domingo de la Calzada, where the cars were parked in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento courtesy of the latter, in an incredible environment.
A documented guided tour of the cathedral, after passing through the clock museum, climbing the tower of the cathedral itself and taking a look at the pilgrims' hostel, put the cultural note this morning. A typical meal of the area also marked the end of the stay in that town, from where the procession headed towards Burgos lands, to Bardauri, Miranda de Ebro neighborhood, undoing part of the path traveled in the morning and from where starting from at six in the afternoon the development of the already traditional Regularity test without instruments, leaving the cars from minute to minute to make two sectors of 31 and 34 kms.
The dispute of the test for Rioja and Burgos lands, enjoying at the same time some landscapes of great beauty, ended in a showy sunset over Bardauri where the Neighborhood Association welcomed all the participants with great affection and put an end to the activities on the day they were posted 158 kms of route.
The culmination of that intense day was the gala dinner at the end of which everyone was thanked for their presence, a memory was made of those who could not be there, thanks were expressed to sponsors and collaborators, the always expected was carried out trophy delivery of the regularity test and the prize draw was proceeded by courtesy of Ford Spain.
And Sunday…
It dawned on Sunday the 5th, with a very relaxed atmosphere and great anticipation for the last visit of the program. Four vehicles had to start the return home early, while the rest at ten in the morning, entered the facilities of the Talgo train factory in Rivabellosa (Alava).
First of all, in the factory parking lot and in front of the main warehouses, the group photo was taken that attests to our stay.
Subsequently and after receipt, Patentes Talgo received the honorary member trophy that was collected by Jose Ramón López, Production Director of the factory, who accompanied us throughout the visit.
From the hand of Javier Moreno, Head of Quality and after a brief presentation of the history of Talgo and its journey from its beginnings to the present, an extensive and detailed visit to all the production areas began, making a short stop to visit a unit of Talgo II, the first of its kind that circulated in Spain and greatly surprised the entire group. At all times the group was also supported by Enrique Pangusión, an employee of Talgo and one of the founding members of the Mustang Club of Spain. The visit was subsequently continued until its completion together with the last composition of the Mecca trains that was ready to be sent to its destination.
After this visit, a meal was held in the early afternoon before returning to each starting point, after which, by unanimous agreement of the members and the club's board of directors, the Honorary Member trophy to Juan Carlos SanchezHe has been an indefatigable advisor to our classics for the last twenty years and later some personalized photographs were delivered, taken by Talgo during the visit, which collect and date three specific moments of the visit.
The farewell after lunch ended three days of conviviality, friendship and entertainment for a group of friends and Mustang enthusiasts, with a final journey of about 300 kms. through the lands of Burgos, La Rioja and Álava.
