Brazil GP opening

On November 24, Globo television broadcast this animation spot as a preamble to the Brazilian Grand Prix. We do not know if the rest of the world's televisions could use it, but the truth is that it is a good pedagogical tool that graphically exposes the history of the queen category.

The film begins when a young enthusiast pushes an Alfa Romeo 159 and a Mercedes W196 down the home straight of his particular circuit. These cars saw champions like Farina or Fangio win, and they gave the starting shot to the so-called Formula 1 in the early 1950s.

Soon, after being overtaken by the silver arrow, the Alfa appears to transform into one of the Lotus with which Graham Hill won his second world championship in the second half of the 49s. It's the Model 80, but the fact is that the English ace's mid-engined car will be surpassed by what we believe is the Matra-Tyrrel MSXNUMX with which Jackie Stewart would win the crown at the end of the decade.

The avant-garde machines are definitely ahead of the obsolete ones. The well-known Lotus John Player Special makes its appearance on the scene - we would say model 72 - with which Rindt and Fittipaldi achieved their world titles in 1970 and 1972, respectively; later, the Ferrari 312T with which Niki Lauda established himself.

From here on, they will quickly follow Nelson Piquet's Brabham BT49 / 52, world champion in the early eighties; the McLaren MP4 instrument of the rivalry between Senna and Prost at the end of the decade, the Benetton B194 that Schumacher used to win his first two championships, the Ferrari - undefined - that would finally make the German pilot famous and, finally, one of the Red Bull cars with which Sebastian Vettel has already treasured four laureate crowns.

They are not all who are, but they are all who are ... What pilots and machines do you miss?
