Spanish Barn Find: SEAT 124 Sport 1600

Sometimes a bit of relaxation on Facebook, can go a long way. In our case, we find this SEAT 124 Sport 1600 in a state of discovery. Rust and dust, we think to ourselves, with what we like and, above all, with a national flavor ... It would be unforgivable not to share it with you, so here is the dose to start the weekend on the right foot.

It is a 'second series' SEAT 124 Sport -always thinking of the original Fiat-, recognizable among other details by the calender without compartmentalisation. It has an interesting 1,6-liter inline four-cylinder engine and Double overhead camshaft designed by Aurelio Lampredi himself, a former Ferrari engineer. The evolution of this engine towards 2 liters, if we remember correctly, would make the Lancia Delta Integrale a car several times winner of the world rally championship.

The Seat 124 Sport came to join the limited Spanish supply of sports cars in the early 70s. At first it was equipped with the 1.600 engine, while later the 1.800 was introduced; the powers were 107 and 116 hp, respectively. It was a car really attractive in his time, and today even those who are not very supportive of the Spanish brand regard it with respect.

DISCOVERY: SEAT 124 SPORT

Let's go with the discovery, with the barn find according to the English inventors of the concept. East rusty SEAT 124 Sport It seems to be kept in a fairly original condition and has probably been stopped since 1990, the date of its last MOT. Time has raged and that gives it a special charm; Above all, it seems that, if we stick to the photos, the interior has suffered (although the roof is still in place!).

Together with the rest of the complex, it seems ready to embark on a restoration that restores the imposing appearance it had in its early years; so that its engine turns high again, revealing its pedigree. What do you think? 😉
